For awhile now I've been complaining/discussing things like EXP, plv , the journey, and all things that while playing the game you realize first while actually playing the game. However upon watching youtube videos on various cut-scenes from pasts final fantasies I've come to realize what I think is the most lacking, the story. In every final fantasy I have ever played, especially so in XI, after progressing in the quest line you gained this sense of "I want to see more!". This game lacks that, in all honesty I can barely recall the last real mission in which I've done and the story seems way too scattered.. The only focal point I see as of yet are the garleans, and even that isn't very compelling. All i'm saying is that the story could use a few touch ups, as to me the characters seem both lacking and non-inspiring, and the quests themselves are generally boring and require way too much walking for a mediocre cut-scene at the end of it all.. Granted I know we are getting a brand new story come 2.0 but still, I think I would enjoy the in-between time a lot more if I had more cliffhangers.

in the end the stories get you right from the beginning, and make you want more, it compels you to proceed within the game. I can't say I've ever had that feeling in this game, I think that is the final fantasy feel it lacks, character development, and an enveloping story.
