Bless your heart to the person who stepped forward to make this forward. this is truly been a war cry and a big need on ffxiv all together for some time. I was just coming on to learn how to navigate around the web portions of eorzea a bit deer ( i usually go to my se page and barely come here. tsk tsk tsk shame on me untill now)

I have been fighting for all of us who have the above mentioned disabiltiies, I was diagnosed adhd/add age 5, autism in my mid-late 20's asphergers in my later to early 30's ( yes i still believe they are separate) I have mild lack of eye and finger coordination, limiting how much i can pay attention in big raids.


yeah at my ripe old age of turning 39 in a few months you'd think i'd know my around forums at all, AND YET i've come this far

it sure sounds like some of ya'll have that willingless to learn the hw primals as i am ( currently struggling to fit in with T6. and my heart begs to learn the thordans, T9. and T7)

I think this is a great thread, I don't speak as a disabled gamer but rather I'm my fiancé's legal carer as she is disabled, we both play FFXIV.

I also just wanna say that if you've ever encountered me tanking in a roulette and my pulls made life hard for you then I am very, truly sorry.

Hey I know Fish, Hi Fish, XD. I know I always try to help anyone that I can whenever I am on and asked a question. And I don't know how anyone else feels but when I am unable to help it eats me up inside. Fish is one of those guys. I always try and help him but I always feel like I fall short of giving him the help he needs, T.T.

I do know that when I play with others I always try to be open to issues that might arise. Sure after you wipe a few times it is frustrating. But I find thst the people who have these disabilities that would make playing games like this harder actually try their hardest to play the best they can.

People don't realise how helpful having somewhere like Eorzea to escape to from our everyday life is. I can be a Geologist again without the searing pain I'd feel in real life. I am aware it's escapism & that it can be unhealthy to get too deep therefore I don't. I see it for what it is.

Unfortunately it's all too common to meet people hell bent on ruining our time, either through trolling or by just being some of the most toxic cretins to stalk the Earth. The response most give is "move on, it's only a game/twitter/etc", well if it's your main means of social interaction it can feel like a personal violation. Yes, I can shake it off 99% of the time because I have coping mechanisms but there are times when people say things that are so unacceptable it cuts deep. I've heard things said that, on the street, would be a criminal offence. Worse still, they tend to be supported by those with the "it's just a game" mentality.

I have a feeling none of that made sense.

Hello! I think this thread is a wonderful idea!

I am disabled. I suffer from severe major depression. In addition, I have severe fibromyalgia and a bunch of related illnesses, such as chronic fatigue syndrome, and I struggle to get through my days due to the pain and fatigue I feel. It's unpredictable too. One moment I am fine, the next minute I feel like I'm being burned by cigarettes, while suffering the worst flu of my life. Luckily, I have a great circle of friends who understand and support me.

FFXIV, WoW, and digital art in general, are my outlets. I make webcomics! It's a lot of fun.

Also, in spite of the horror stories, I have found the majority of FFXIV are nice people. I tend to group with the same people, but if there is a stranger, I let them know upfront what to expect.

I laugh a lot. It tends to spread to the rest of the group too.

dang, i thoguht i wouldn't get caught lol, nobdy ever comes short of giving help that i need, asside from dragging stuff on too much i usually ask question after question...... well i've got to update the fc page

I did think though that my social anxiety wouldn't be a problem in an MMO; and I was so wrong. I only have about five friends in XIV because I'm afraid to start conversations with people or try to make friends.

do they run hw primals and be ok with completely and utter failture untill everyone has a moderate idea of what to do ( sophia ex)

I am really only grouping with my BF because I always think I'm not really friends with anyone else . I feel particularly awkward when there is no chat too ><, I feel as though I've done something wrong!
