    Zurvan, meracydia and bahamut

Comparing the hat of Zurvan and face of the primal bahamut, it becomes evident that zurvan is wearing bahamut as a hood.

Going through the timeline we see that immediatly after the greatwyrm fell, the beast tribes of meracydia summoned the triad.

Zurvan, being summoned by the centuar-lizard creatures is described as being above all gods and having armor made of unshifting flame.

By the timeline, the closest the centuar-lizards had seen to a god, would have been Bahamut the greatwyrm.

Dragons, notorious for the flamebreath could perchance have been the inspiration for the dragon face atop Zurvans head.

My opinion is that the Centaur-lizards saw their godlike dragon fall to the allagans, only then to say "hmm, bahamut fell. So our god can kill bahamut and wear his remains as a symbol of victory"

Ironically, the allagans of course caught Zurvan and the eventual primal bahamut.

While it may be hard ot see on he pictures i provided, there are similarities with the three horns, middle one bent and small snout and chin spike.

Real bahamut will of course had looke different from the primal, so i believe i can say that the similarities sufice.

I love such nuances in the story, leading to speculation. Havent seen this one thrown around here so i'd thought i'd share it.

While the hood might be based on the Primal Bahamut, do recall that the Primal Bahamut has a very different appearance from the original dragon Bahamut. While I've long since lost track of the picture of Midgardsormr's brood that points out which of the dragons is Bahamut, but I'm pretty sure remembering that his horns didn't look anything like the Primal's did. (I know the Lore book labels each dragon - anyone got a pic they can share?)

Regardless, if you change your theory so that the Centaur-lizards saw the Primal Bahamut and were suitably impressed, your theory still works out!

Primal Bahamut was summoned after the triad so that could not have happened.

As can be seen here the with Bahamut in the middle, he was indeed quite different. I cant, however determind from which angle we see the head. I found a better comparison using a program im not sure if ill get banned on forums for mentioning so the weird screenshots from awkward angles will have to suffice.

I can say the horn shape is almost Identical on both Bahamut and Zurvan with zurvans curving more out to the sides as opposed to upwards, which bahamuts horns incidently also do on the artwork.

I have not been able to find a sufficent quality picture, and the one shown in lorebook is no higher resolution.

But even the chin is almost identical with the two teeth, no lip going directly to a jaw-tip

On a related note, anyone else look at Proto-Ultima's form as though the Allagans looked at Bahamut and Zurvan and thought "what if we COMBINED the two?"

That was partly my thought process, though I'm mostly thinking that Proto-Ultima and Ultima were created using the Meracydian quadrupeds as base stock, and used their cloning/bio-engineering programs to develop those into the creatures we've fought.
