So today got the Squall outfit, I like the top don't really see myself using the other pieces though.



Although if you dye it with Metallic dye it kind of looks like a pimp suit, which I lol'ed at.

Oddly enough, I always thought that Squall's outfit looked rather bad on him, but it looks rather nice on a female Mi'quote. Seems to be a lot more flattering than on the male frame, in my opinion.

Looks pretty nice. Too bad I'm a looooooooong way from getting it. Ugh why did I quit back in ARR. switching to wow for a bit was dumb.

I think it has a lot to do with that frill around the neck and shoulders. Since males tend to have higher, larger shoulders that frill is just making them seem even bigger and looks ridiculous:

On a female frame, with smaller and slightly lower shoulders, the effect is not quite as dramatic and serves more as a flourish.

I'm pretty sure these costumes are based in some part on the Dissidia versions, unless someone has a FFVIII screen to compare with.
