    Crafting App

Some of you may have heard the devs make reference to an app or apps to interact with our inventories remotely via smartphones and other app-ready devices. If they can create such a connection with our character data remotely, why not go one step further?

What I am suggesting is a scaled down version of the crafting UI in an app. Essentially, all the basics of the interface with an orb icon to let us know the current state of a craft. This will allow players to craft remotely while logged our of their computers (or later their Ps3), as a means of skilling up, making room, creating merchandise for sale, etc.

For those that have long public transportation commutes, or have a lot of inactive or downtime at work, in between class blocks, long car rides, long plane trips or the like this would be a great boon. It would be a heck of a lot more productive than Angry Birds (or excessive forum reading).

If you are concerned about a clever gamer making a bot app to craft, or looking as a company to make profit off this extra labor necessary to this task, then look no further: I have your answer there too. Simply charge a stipend for the app, say 5-10 dollars American, and around an additional $10 for a one time password key device to be connected to our accounts. If one has one already connected to their SE account they are fine, if one has had one disconnected offer them a new counter and allow them to connect one. Require the user to reenter their one time password roughly every 30 minutes to an hour to continue to craft in this way.

Players, think of it. Instead of a pointless flash game while on a long commute, you can be skilling up that pesky Weaver you've been working on. Or perhaps put the finishing touches on your Blacksmith. Maybe, you simply want to make some profit off your crafts in downtime and use your actual playtime to dungeon crawl, or to toss your corpse at Ifrit, or defend a Hamlet instead of eeking through crafts, yet again.

Create a separate inventory of 50-100 spaces so that a player can dump mats in the night before, that can be accessed through the app. This can be done via the inn, or the pub, or the Adventurer's Guild. Here you, "check-in," and your things become available to interact with remotely, while you are away.

    Tell me what you think!

As I posted this I look this up, apparently some other dude on my server had a very similar idea only days before so I'll bump him and drop his link here!

I for one would love this idea! i hate crafting so much i would love something to do on my downtime. i have always wanted to be able to craft somewhere that doesn't have internet such as on the go,but when you have 4 or 3g smartphone you could do i almost anywhere on your downtime.

    Nice Thread Roland Debreton!
