See I have no issue with machinist, I can play it fine..for clarification, since "the players must be bad card" is being thrown around. Some jobs are hard for people to pick up, doesn't make them bad.

You're mistaking personal DPS for Job Strength. For all that Machinist doesn't necessarily have the highest personal DPS, it's still one of the most powerful jobs in the game due to the combination of it's own personal DPS, how much DPS it can contribute to the entire party via buffs such as Turret Hypercharge, and the ability to regenerate TP and MP using Turret Promotion. When all of this is taken into account it is able to contribute more damage both directly and indirectly to a party than a Monk or a Black Mage can using their personal DPS alone. That would actually be Monk. And then Black Mage when they don't have to dance.
After that, I don't know. I guess you could say Dragoon and Machinist, but Dragoon can get pretty up there in numbers.
But if you want to talk about hard-hitting, definitely Machinist with Wildfire and Black Mage with their Fire IV's.
With the combat overhaul that's coming with Stormblood, it's probably too early to make this assertion, though you will be absolutely correct if nothing is done to change physical resistance debuffs and Monk, Black Mage, and Summoner continue to not have a means of buffing the party's damage.
