    More dialogue options

    It would be nice if there were more options to select different text choices during dialogue. Some people complain that NPCs just spew walls-of-text at people. By adding text options, it involves the player more, forcing them to pay more attention to what they are reading. Of course it would be nice if the choices changed the text, or even the results of a quest (perhaps by giving you a different reward based on certain choices), but I think simply having them would alleviate some of the tl;dr mentality.

    Also, even providing a simple voice-acted "Hello!" in spoken dialogue when you first click on the NPC would be nice.

    What do you think? Perhaps this could even lead to an eventual Secret of Monkey Island-style matching of wits. Picture retort based pvp. You fight like a dairy farmer...

    I always liked in past FFs that you could sometimes choose what to say in the dialogue. I also liked that my character could talk at all for that matter.

    One thing that always bothered me about FFXI was that my character was a mute. He/she should be allowed to have some input into what's going on. He/she is the main character in the story are they not ? Shouldn't they be more important than just some bystander watching the events unfold ?

    The argument against this I suppose is that I, the player, am in control of the character. So by making my character talk for me it takes away from my freedom as the player. However, that never stopped the main character from talking in the offline FFs. I think it's just silly that my character can't talk in cutscenes or dialogue. I hope that perhaps in version 2.0 my character will finally have a voice too!

    What you are describing is like a Parley 2.0-- could be fun. But I wouldn't expect its implementation very soon, even if they are considering it.

    Thanks for you guys suggestions and feedback so far. Do you guys think we'll see branching quests eventually? Or will they continue to make quests with only one possible outcome? FF usually has pretty linear quests with one certain outcome, but since this is a new game, they are free to experiment with whatever they want. What do you think?

    I would like to see the dialogue options even if they don't impact the story or the grand scheme.

    NPC: We need you to go on a suicide mission to plant this moogle pendant on Bahamut's upper left horn.
    Player Choice #1: With pleasure.
    -> NPC: "I see you are fond of horned beasts. This mission will be right up your alley."
    Player Choice #2: That sounds dangerous."
    -> NPC: "Nonsense! Insert some kind of pun here about decide and suicide. Then laugh it off!"
    Player Choice #3: ...
    -> NPC: "The silent type eh? Great! You can use that silence to sneak up on the eikon!"
    NPC: No matter what choice you picked earlier, I'm going to respond with this anyway! You'll find Bahamut somewhere in Ul'dah near the repair NPC. Just move around a bit until he loads up.

    I wouldn't expect a branching dialogue or alternative quest outcome in the present design of this game. Perhaps a future Final Fantasy or SE project.

    I would like to see a Final Fantasy themed, branching scenario, job-driven, alternate leveling mechanic (license board, sphere grid, crystantheum, etc.), voice acted, type of game. Something to entertain I suppose, but for now, a separate project-o from the current forecasted Final Fantasies + SE produx.
