In WildStar, I subscribe to the Signature benefits. But I also earn Omnibits while playing the game that I've used to purchase every single dye, every costume, multiple pets and mounts, all holo-wardrobe/costume slot unlocks, all decor expansion unlocks, and several toys. I spent real money in the cash shop twice, when I felt like I wanted to demonstrate extra financial support for a particular decision Carbine made. And this is a game where I'm not even obligated to pay the subscription if I want to play the game. Oh and did I mention that every purchase is account-wide?

FFXIV's cash shop is just a horrible deal, and that is why I will never, ever spend money in it.
That's you're right as a consumer. I agree that some things in the shop seem way overpriced to me. But other people with far more disposable income than I probably don't even give it a second thought. And that's ok. Speaking with your wallet by not making purchases of items you feel are bad deals is perfectly fine. But it's worth noting that just because some of the shop items may seem overpriced to some of us, does not mean that there's a problem with the shop selling items. It just means the price points set by the company aren't always going to jive with everyone's level of disposable income.

Yea it sucks when stuff you want is out of reach due to cost, but at the same time, nothing in the shop is vital to have. It very much is OPTIONAL, and as I've said many times in this thread already, those items wouldn't be available to players AT ALL if not for the shop. Some posters have this strange idea that these items would have made their way into the game eventually as some sort of achievement gear, when the reality is that they wouldn't have made it at all.
