The Korean male outfits are starting to look very similiar. As @Serilda said, its very obvious that female outfits get more attention. I skipped the Noble outfit, I will skip this one aswell, will also skip the new one from Korea aswell, because the male outfit look the same. The chinese outfit loos pretty good, I hope they bring the new chinese outfit to NA/EU/JP, both genders have great looking outfit.

Not sure why developers have an issue creating good looking outfits for male avatars, maybe its time SE starts hiring more female developers, if the male developers are so uncomfortable with creating cute/sexy outfits for male avatars.

PS: In 2 months it will be 3 years since we have been waiting for Male Bunny Outfit, while Edda's outfit was released to the community only 1 year and 1 month after Palace of the Dead was added to the game.

I can't wait for the evidence that because male characters don't buy as much from the cash shop, they're not worth catering to, rather than looking at the items properly and seeing that they're so similar to one another. They badly, badly need some female input on the design team (for the ladies' sake as well given the complaints about too many 'sexy' outfits compared to sensible ones). I don't know what went wrong when they used to be so good on both counts in the past.

Anyway, thread needs more pictures of sad characters in pretty clothes. I'd love to know why I can wear coloured lilies in my hair but not spider lilies because only female heads can manage those - the 'it's GARO' excuse makes no sense when you consider that the GARO armour itself is canonically genderlocked in the GARO universe but unisex in FFXIV...

FFXIV used to be balanced when it came to the type of gear, revealing vs not revealing and the outfits for both genders. The Korean and Chinese outfits are requests from the publishers in that area and its known thing that majority of the playerbase play a female character on those servers. Alot of Korean MMORPG favour female avatars soo much that they create outfits for female avatars only, release classes that only those with female avatar can play (without releasing a male version or a class for male avatar), race that only has female gender etc. So its not suprising that they create good looking outfits for the female avatars, but rehash the ones for males.

January 2015, this is when SE started screwing over those with male avatars, for a P2P MMO, this is disgusting.

I didn't read the entire discussion, but I read back a hundred posts or so.

I'm not able to access the fancier glamour items yet, but a what I've found frustrating is "unisex" items that are actually different according to gender - and I would much rather be able to equip the male version of the costume than the revealing female version.

    Particular things:
    - the general amount of short skirts and stockings, no option for tights under the skirt
    - Hall of the Novice DPS gear, which looks so much better with pants.
    - Infantry shirt - completely open at the front
    - crafter's coatee set - the female version is just awful
    - bilaud coat - would look great with a proper shirt instead of the token collar-necklace that females get.

I definitely agree that all the costumes should be equippable by both genders! Yes, a few people will be silly with it, but they're already being silly with other costumes anyway, and everyone else can just go on with making their characters look awesome.

I just avoid all of the skimpy gear, but it does really suck to see a totally awesome glamour on a male character, only to equip the same item on myself and find out its yet another weeblord wind-up waifu costume on my character.

But fanservice gonna fanservice I guess. Even if it is totally disgusting to see naked catigrls everywhere.

I 100% agree with this, I actually had a female character based off of myself, but once I got to higher levels I could'nt take how the gear looked. I used a fantasia and a name change, just to avoid it.

But on thread topic- a glamour of one of my alts Kaleb (he looks pretty in pink xD)
(and maybe more glamours will make Serilda less sad )

Some of my problems with unequal unisex items is that it's needlessly sexy. Example - level 50 DRG AF set. It's supposed to be an armor, armor! But the ladies have this massive chunk missing over their bellies, as though asking to be stabbed in their soft vital organs.
I miss the Coliseum sets. There were still differences for women, but the melee set in particular was one of the few where the guys were actually showing more if only because the women had to actually had their boobs covered.

My friend, who has a female character but had never played DRG, was furious when she got to Ishgard and saw the serious female dragoons standing around issuing quests wearing their odd exposed armour. She has nothing against sexy clothing, but there's a time and a place for such things - and it probably isn't standing outside in the freezing cold guarding Ishgard from dragons. I agree that the current status quo harms both sides.

Looks good to me! It's funny how different some items look on different body shapes, your Lalafell is cute as a button.

    Aww, thank you

I haven't managed to get around to taking any pictures of my main character looking less sad yet (oops) but here's one of my female dress-up alt modelling an item suitable for both genders - my main is fiercely loyal to Maelstrom so he can't wear it, but at least it isn't genderlocked. Remember back when they could show some flesh in clothing designs and not have everyone fainting at how inappropriate it would be for a guy to dress the same way? It seems so long ago.

It bothers me when people post that it's impossible to imagine a guy in (insert female-only item here) when it's never viewed as difficult to add a bra for ladies and let them decide how to wear it. We aren't that disgusting to look at, people, any more than female characters with less classically feminine proportions. If the designers are struggling this much, I'm happy to offer free assistance. Pretty sure I could adapt the male bunny suit from the female one in an acceptable way within an afternoon.
