Okay, my computer issues are mostly sorted, though I still have no idea what caused the problem in the first place.
Here's a nice, summery dress; perfect for working in the garden!

I support this thread!! Also nice cheek blush darling.
I get teased by my friends because one of my main hobbies in this game is to get every skirt in it lol. I am pretty close. I was delighted to see all the new kilts, hakamas, and longkilts SE added with SB. Also the dyeable former dungeon reskins are excellent!

Hai! I'm Vahl, in ur mmorpgs, sort'n my inventory and putt'n 2 many H's in my name since FFXI..FFXIV Inventory Tetris Champ
Wow that actually looks like a female character from the back. Gotta love that Au Ra waistline.![]()
Good glams I see! Figured out my own set now that I am at cap and got most of the ala mhigan gear.
Also, the caster set got the good skirt. Healer set get the one that clearly have shorts on em, no leg showing where it counts.
Still, our sandals are essentially tights...so we can still do some nice things with what we got. Like so (magical girl animations also featured):

I'm yet again astonished at how feminine the Au Ra male figure is You look lovely!
XD You definitely look magical there!
I pulled out my old Yasha gear in an attempt to blend in a bit in Kugane. I'm very fond of the waistline of this chest piece.

I looked like a little guy... Except I was a female. Gender is such a trivial thing and I still think it shouldn't get in the way of gear for glamouring sake!
And while my beautiful wife was able to wear a suit for our wedding, a male character couldn't done a dress-like clothing item. Which is sad.
As a reminder, not to look ridiculous, I sincerely believe that male characters can look good in items that are currently locked to female characters only. Y'shtola's boots anyone? No?
So, before this continues further, why do men want to wear dresses in game besides vague political reasons? o o;
I can see plenty of reasons why women would want to wear mens clothing, mostly because "mens clothing" is by far more practical than the female counterpart functionally. Hate to break it to people, but pants are better than dresses and kilts when running across the country side. Also, whoever invented high heels and thinks those made any lick of sense deserves punishment in the deepest, darkest depths of Gahenna.
I was actually just discussing your question with somebody not long ago, so I'll go ahead and weigh in with my opinion. This game makes a point of having an immersive environment, in way that many don't put the effort into doing. There's a large variety of expressive emotes, carefully sculpted 3D models and animations, and a highly interactive environment (you can sit in almost any chair and lay in many beds randomly located around the world). There's an entire system for making your character look how you want. There's an entire system for taking incredibly detailed, highly controlled screencaps. (part 1/x?)
The combination of these things means that many of us, when we've done all the content we're interested in, spend a good amount of time picking glamours, hanging out with friends basically doing nothing, and in the process take a lot of screen caps. When you do that enough, you start to trend towards certain emotes and expressions with your character, and favor certain colors for outfits, not always in line with how you yourself think or act. There are dozens of groups on the web that share screen caps from the game showing off characters.
It creates a sort of subtle role playing. Your character might be in favor of gold plated armor, being brazen and strong, flashy and quick to show their strength, even if you don't feel that way yourself. It's no different than being a straight male playing a female character and dressing her femininely, and making flirty emotes and poses. Some people will argue they're just creating "eye candy", but I've met irl straight men who've played fem-roes that like wearing summery dresses while gathering, because it's the clothes that felt right for the character and situation.
So, say you have a character that is perhaps a little androgynous looking, and has a tendency to make more flamboyant expressions, poses, and gear. The character just happens to be male, but you've grown attached to "who" that character has developed into, and don't want to have to change them into a different person just to wear what you want to wear. That's the perspective I see this argument from.
