Insane people who wear stat-less glamours in actual raids are one thing but nowadays that needn't be a problem, and beauty is in the eye of the beholder. No glamour is worse, because mixing the Hailstorm arms with the Void Ark gown and a Shire hat looks terrible to me. We're also not especially asking for the hempen camise; there's no way that girls can wear most of the male equivalents without affecting the game's rating and we have a perfectly adequate alternative already. So fear not; the main goal is to avoid locking perfectly decent outfits with no equivalents!

I would like this game to avoid going the way of TERA.

New page but I'm not at home so I had to dig into my archive. So uh, here's my chocobo, Catastrophe (and perhaps more shockingly, me actually wearing armour instead of some kind of dapper coat and boot ensemble). I think that my chocobo is very fashionable and that hat has never once left his head since the seasonal event where I unlocked it.

With TERA, I can understand why they would release so many female only exclusives, the game is F2P and majority of the playerbase is playing a female character, their data also shows that majority of the players that buy stuff from the cash shop are those with female avatars. From an sales point of view, I can understand why they would go in this direction. With FFXIV everyone that plays is already paying Game key + subscription (some also pay for stuff on the Mog Station) and we also know from numbers released from SE that the ratio of female to males characters is almost the same.

SE has no reason to pander to those with female avatars, they do it, because they want to and can. Which sucks for those that play the other gender. All of us are paying for more content, but only one side gets to experience more, this in itself is unfair. Another factor might also be with their culture, maybe males in feminine outfits is seen as taboo there, which is why we have inbalance of females being able to wear most outfits and males dont.

In the end this is still no excuse, if SE didnt want males to wear the female outfits, then they could have made more male exclusive outfits to balance this. Them not wanting to balance this makes me believe that male characters have a low priority then female characters.

PS: Aymeric's hairstyle is uni-sex, while Minifilia's hairstyle is still female exclusive, if SE can make a male avatar's hairstyle uni-sex, then they can do this for Minifilia's hairstyle aswell, the fact that this has not happend, shows the playerbase that female avatars have an higher priority then the male ones.

I think it's about corporate culture more than actual Japanese culture. They give us glamour miniskirts, crop tops and colibri pink dye so they obviously don't mind men wearing overtly 'feminine' outfits, but their design team is heavily made up of (presumably straight) males and they didn't actually realise how much bias started creeping in when designers started thinking with their pants, as it were.

The same thing can be seen in the healer/caster costume design contest; people submitted male/female designs and yet the gallery we were shown was heavily biased towards the female ones, leaving those with male characters wondering what their versions were supposed to look like. Square-Enix does great things in catering for fans of all preferences, but there's definitely a bias towards depictions of shapely women in this industry. Despite there being more people paying to play as male characters. So silly. It's important that we point these things out because I feel that the dev team don't intend things to be this way on purpose.

Edit: Huh, my post for this page got moved back because some of the freakier flame posts were deleted! The community team works hard. Though sadly Lukha's WHM snap was also devoured in the purge. I managed to rescue it.

Gotta be lazy and post an old picture tonight, I have a test in the morning so I didn't have time to put together a new outfit. It's not even a glamour, this is legitimately just what my gear looked like as a more or less fresh level 60 White Mage.

Gear like this is why I will never believe there's a lore reason we can't have some of the 'girlier' gear that's currently female locked. If anyone wants to try to put together a logical argument to convince me that Eorzeans aren't 100% okay with males in dresses, go ahead, I'll wait, but make sure you take into account the fact that this outfit is mostly artifact gear, and the progenitor of the White Mage discipline was male.

@Serilda the amount of assumptions you made about me is amazing. At any point I said I against or in favor, I just give an explanation about why SE do certain things, and I still belive it. You can disagree, defend your point for sure and told me how wrong I'am, but not like that.
