    Event Idea: Feedback Appreciated!

    Greetings!

I'm working on some ideas for an event that I would like to host in the coming months.
One part of the event is something of an open market where players could pay a fee and will be able to sell their wares to event-goers. Whether it be food, drink, fireworks, or specialty items (weapons, armors, glams, etc).

Question is: Does anyone think that this would be a worthwhile endeavor?
    • As a seller, do you think that you would have a higher chance at selling an item that's been sitting on the MB for weeks, to a live crowd? Would you be willing to pay a fee to do so?
    • As a buyer, would you be interested in seeing what other players might have to sell outside of the MB?

Let me know what you think!

Always thought they could run a Treno Auction House for certain items in FFXIV, not sure what they'd be.. but some event every month that sells some ridiculous item for great sums of money, and maybe a peasants version for the rest of us that happens occasionally and has slightly different mechanics lol.

Rare fluffed chocobo breed that has two comfortable seats and an on call moogle shop, may be used to breed other chocobos so that you can breed a fluffled chocobo with your friends. Won't be obtainable in game again from other means for at least four months - come bid for it now! Watch as someone drops like 50 million gil lol.

As for a player ran event, yeah it'll probably work sometimes, and you may have fun - larger servers the easier. Unfortunately you'd probably get people who'd shout prices they're not willing to pay and there would be nothing you can do about that, GM isn't going to do much for them saying "500,000 Beli!" lol. Still I've seen gambling stations a few times.

Set up in a nicely decorated house and make it a social experience . Worried about the trolls though

It's not a Bad Idea however there is an option like that outside of your estate were players can use their retainers and others can look at their wares.

I've actually seen something like this once from an FC ages ago in the form of a crafter's bazaar. It was sorta like a garage sale every week, where you could go up to a crafter and they'd tell you what items they'd have in stock and sell it at some discounted price from the MB standard. You could also give them requests for crafts, and you could either pay for their mats or provide your own. They also held auctions for bigger and rarer stuff, with all the proceeds going toward funding crafting leveling kits for new players.

Now for the original idea, if it were to be a thing in the game, it'd have to be 100% player-driven much like that FC crafter's bazaar. Sure, there could be a couple of things that could be done on the development end to assist in this endeavor, but all of this would have to be up to the players.
