I was hoping we'd get more of a clue as to why we're going to be heading to the Far East presumably in the middle of our Ala Mhigo liberation effort, but all they did was imply that something is going on over in Doma there with no specifics.

I have my audio in japanese and I swear I heard Nero call omega Kawaii omega-chan.... please tell me this is a thing XD
"Kawaii-ko-chan" meaning roughly "little cutie." Usually reserved for young females, but there's no accounting for taste.

And... well... there it is. The end of (another) era. One of my favorite surviving Scions is now dead, and the other was a body double the entire time. At least she's getting an expansion.
Not much else I can say that hasn't been said, though I do wish we could have been given something to tie the Triad back in. We've at least gotten a couple confirmations that not every side-raid NPC must needs go the way of G'raha Tia, but leaving the newest Scion (and Thancred!?) out of the loop is a meh way to end the cycle. On that note...
Still really disappointed that the Crystal Tower amounted to a "that one time when you betrayed us" and that's about it. Not every raid can be the Binding Coil, I guess. Nero didn't have to get the key to Omega from Unei, but it would've been a nice way to remember people we're supposed to not forget. Also kinda dumb that the first time Cid has ever mentioned it outside of the questline itself comes at the end of the following expansion. /shrug
Now back to not finishing my Anima and internally debating whether or not I want to shell out for the Collector's Edition again. I am a sucker for artbooks and cloth maps...

Oh my, we're all kinda bummers here, aren't we?
Although, sure, it lacked the punch that 2.55 did. But I dunno - I almost prefer that the game has given us reason to continue our everyday routine, rather than hang us on a knife's edge perpetually for 3 months. We do lack the immediate impetus to go into Ala Mhigo, true, but...well, we're not going to Ala Mhigo immediately, are we? The story was fine. I'm expecting Stormblood to open with a bang.
Stray thoughts:
-Shinryu was a surprise. I'll admit I was hoping for Rhalgr, but I suppose they justified its form well enough (and I don't think we're to believe the Domans "knew what it was" so much as "they're connecting it to something they know from legend").
-I was 50/50 on there being a group instance, but figured there'd be at least a solo instance, and I wasn't wrong! I even died a couple times - I suppose Ryuji doesn't have what it takes to be a Magitek armor pilot.
-Our new Roe friend was...well, he was something. I completely agree we haven't seen the last of him, although I don't know how to feel about that at all. On the other hand, as a huge Nero fan, I'm really glad he didn't go all psycho on us. I enjoy his slimy presence too much; something about him having qualities that are objectively pretty negative and being so unrepentant about it, and yet still being allowed to ally with us, really endears him to me. As for his apparent change of heart after Crystal Tower...I dunno, but I'm kinda glad he's not gone all soft. He's developed in that he seems to have largely moved past his obsession with Cid, but he still gets to be smarmy. I'm calling it a win.
-The Empire has let the Wall go, then? Or perhaps we're playing into Zenos' hand. That dialog definitely implied a spy...
-Gosetsu came off as kind of...I dunno. A very particularly kind of Japanese slapstick. I'm not sure he translates great. I'm on the fence about him. Speaking of him, though - do we know what race he is? He's doing Roe emotes, but I'm not sure how much into that I should be reading.
-Speaking of: Gosetsu seems convinced that it's time for Yugiri to return home. For what, I wonder? He never really elaborated. Nor did Yugiri - does she consider her debt repaid, her time in Eorzea done? She didn't outright agree to go with Gosetsu. Prediction: they'll stick around just long enough for us to need to go to Othard as well, and everything will sync up nice and dandy and we'll hitch a ride. Get some reeeeeal good bonding time on Gosetsu's little boat.
-A lack of Ascians was pretty surprising, even if we knew they'd be taking a breather.
So yeah. Certainly not the same insanity of the Ul'Dahn Banquet, , but plenty to wonder and speculate about as it is, and lots of reasons to justify lollygagging about Eorzea and working on my crafting in the meantime.
Underwhelming. What didn't feel rushed felt forced.

Am I the only one who didn't like the name Lyce? That sounds like her hair is ravaged by tiny egg laying insects.

For what it's worth, Lyse a root of Elizabeth going back to Hebrew that means Oath, specifically "God is my Oath".
It's related to Lisa, Lys (tied in with the French word for lily), Elze, Isabelle, etc.
