New Racers for Final Fantasy XIV

I dont think any of the Ivalice races should be used, that's an entirely separate world I do not want to see abused for "fan service"

They also don't need to redesign the current races, they have a good amount of FFXI feel with enough freshness that its still new.

FF XI is a different game too and they reused races so I see no reason why not to use races from other Final Fantasis.
Viera would be cool but I would love to have those lizard men from XII. They looked really cool for me.
Edit. Besides SE already conformed they would like to add some dragon race or something, didn't they?

Mostly..because Ivalice is a different world linked with two different game series, FFXI > FFXIV made sense because these are generic races that fits the typical mold of MMO races -- For example Viera has no place in Eorzea, nor does Bangaa.

They mentioned a dragon and demi human race, but they didn't mention it being playable races, for example Dragons clearly have to have some kind of hierarchy to mount up against humans, much like other Beastmen tribes.

No place? All races are all from the same multiverse, sure they have a place. Saying it's alright to port HD XI races because they are both MMOs, but from a different world and not okay to port races from other games in the series because they are offline, is a pretty lame excuse - no offense. If you're going to rob from other games within the series (as xi was a game in the series) you may as well bring back fan favorites.

I am kind of going to swerve a bit off topic here, but maintaining the logic not to dig into past games and completely reinvent the wheel is exactly why this game fails to meet any form of potential. They have all these great ideas from past iterations (not just xi their entire catalogue) to create a lush, fun, lorefilled, unique playing environment, but seem to refuse to do so. It leaves fans and on lookers alike stumped, baffled, and screaming 'wtf are you doing???'.

FFXI was an MMO, pretty much all MMOs has the basic Human, Elven, Dwarf, Beast/hulk (sometimes furry) race which is exactly what XI's races were, they went with the same general concepts (though different lore for the most part) in XIV simply to create a sense of familiarity for those who played XI and wanted to recreate their avatar in XIV, given how tied they originally wanted the two games to be (i.e discount for playing both) and the fact it was the same general development team working on both games at the start.

Ivalice is a sprawling world through multiple games and even a different game series (Final Fantasy Tactics/XII/TTAdvance/Vagrant Story), how would they explain races from a complete, different and unique world and timeline appearing in FFXIV? Bangaa are generally the "meh" race and merchants, so that would be fairly easy to fit in, but Eorzea isn't Ivalice nor is it anywhere near Ivalice unless the lands to the west is Ivalice. It's not like them having a Cid in every FF game, that's to be expect because heck, Cid is pretty much the main hero of the storylines in many ways.

That's why they'd have no place showing up here, because they're all confined perfectly to their respective game's storyline, it's like asking for Kefka to be a villain of FFXIV. Unless they don't care for continuity or the fact they exist as key races of another game series, more power to them -- May as well throw in some Guado and Al Bhed too. It would be nice to have more races, but I'm pretty sure Hydaelyn is big enough to house it's own unique races that fits more with this game's setting and lore.

The same exact way they fit XI races into XIV. You give it a different name and you adapt it to the environs of said world. It's really not that hard.

You're mixing two different things. Kefka is a particular character and not a race. It is not the same thing as asking for a bunny girl variant race to appear in XIV.

Like I said in a few of my previous post, you're going to have to re-brand the race. This in sense can create mixed feelings for people who have experienced that race in another game in a completely different way and context. A similar feeling you get from "type-casted" actors appearing playing different roles that you are not accustomed to them playing.

There were ideas to add a male Mithra and a female Galka, but, unfortunately, due to developmental limitations, we had to throw those ideas in a vault for now. I would rather much have them create another beast-like race, than ruin the image of what I think vieras like Fran are.

Like I said in a few of my previous post, you're going to have to re-brand the race. What also makes people have mixed feelings is to stray so far from the 'feel' of the entire series, alienating, and polarizing your fanbase, and completely ignoring fan requests(Tanaka). Keywords here, 'fan requested'. Also If you are going to try to return the installation to a stead and true ff series feel, stop trying to be so variably different from everything, even your own brand. This goes for the subject of races, and beyond.

this is what i hate about FF14 races to a tee. they are just clones of FF11, and they don't belong in a numbered FF game, they belong in a FF11 spin off or sequel. and the last thing i want the dev team to do is the exact same lazy arsed crap the last dev team did. if they are going to design new races please put a bit of effort in, or don't bother at all

what sucks in my opinion is the fact they added FFXI races without the gender counterparts which means we wont be seeing actual new races for some time after the new genders are added.

had they added the extra genders in the first place (which was always wanted in FFXI anyway) then we would be seeing new races much sooner.

I also feel these races should have been exclusive to FFXI since FF races seem to exist per universe and its been stated that this MMO is a completely different universe than FFXI.
