    One question I've always wondered...

The Ascians have always had a great deal of power... what keeps them from directly acting rather than constantly acting through intermediaries...

It never really explained why their tactics were like that despite having such enormous power...

    Another scion bites the dust...

Thx to another loose end (Ilbert) who had access to another loose end ( nidhogg eyes).

No worries though. I'm sure in Stormblood, we'll really double up on the loose ends and save Uria--i mean another scion from death.

If any of them acted openly with little regard to collateral, their fellow Ascians would probably have their own qualms about doing such a thing and would maybe even step in to prevent their comrades from going super saiyan. The climactic fight with Ascian Prime in the Aetherchemical facility was partly because Lahabrea was getting impatient. And as we've seen, the Ascians were divided on what to actually do with the warrior of light. (I think, anyway: it's been a while)

-Being immortal, Ascians generally like to plant seeds of evil rather than outright go out and do stuff. The time span of centuries means nothing to them. The destruction of the world can't just happen by them walking around blowing things up; more powerful beings than them have already tried that. They're more subtle, an extent.

Overall, was disappointed with the story.

The entire Yda story from last patch to this should have been built up more. While I did enjoy Warriors of Darkness, they were ultimately pretty removed from everything else. Those chapters should have been building up our emotional connection with Yda/Papalymo and building our understanding of their connection. While the story did seem sad, I didn't really care much about it at all. I didn't care about Lyse's reveal, either. This would have been more impactful, had we had more information / back story on Yda and her sister. Instead, we were just given "hey look Yda seems mysterious, there must be some story with her".

Then there is the move to Ala Mhigo and Doma, which felt very forced. "we have go to go there!! ... because!"

I also get that a lot of people seem to like Goestsu (or however you spell it), but personally I found his character uninteresting and cheesy, and it makes me glad that I am not interested in unlocking Samurai.

These past couple of releases/patches (proto ultima, diadem, 3.56 msq) have made it pretty clear to me that the dev team is hardcore focused on Stormblood and is just trying to passably release stuff to keep us going in the mean time. When I think of it that way, it gives me high hopes for Stormblood, but I just hope this recent trend doesn't continue.

The thoughts of a fool's gotta count, so here are my thoughts.

I won't lie, I over-prepared for 3.56, believing there was going to be a huge "Final Steps of Faith" thing waiting for me, before the big finale. I went in with weapon drawn and came out looking around with a shrug. 3.56 did not meet my expectations, but I was pleased with it all the same.

I think the reason why 3.56 felt so underwhelming was because the huge "Final Steps of Faith" I was looking for had already happened in 3.55--Baelsar's Wall. If 3.55/3.56 would have been released all in one, the finale would have felt more like a finale.

Still, while we didn't get a huge cliffhanger like we did at the end of ARR, I'm glad to see HW end on an upswing.

She's our friend, we're not going to tell her it's awful, even if that's what we really think. I'm definitely not a fan of the male pants and shoes, and all of the female outfit is pretty meh, but I love the male jacket!

Not being able to put it in the armoire right away was a huge oversight, though. And they've been so good about it lately with event gear!

So "Yda" is definitely the Girl in Red from the Stormblood trailer, buuuuuuuuuut it's still not #2Monks. None of the scions have job crystals, so it's actually Monk vs Pugilist /semantics!

Nero continues to be just the best. After their brief interaction in 3.56, I want Alisaie and Nero as traveling companions in 4.0 even more now. (Yugiri and Nero wouldn't be as good, but would still be fun.)

I'm pretty sure the spy mentioned in the stinger cutscene is just of the generic sort that we've seen all throughout the story. Every rank and file soldier in Eorzea knows that they're calling the new primal Shinryu because that's what the Doman's named it. There's no reason to assume it's someone close to us.

It's the duty of the Warrior of Light to set things straight. Lying to a "friend" is not something they should do.

Lyse's tattoo disappeared so she walks her own path now, and that path involves going to Ala Mhigo (where MNK came from). The fact that her attire and fighting style changes suggests that she actually does adopt MNK, as it is the fighting style of her country. The reason that none of the Scions have job crystals is to do with lore reasons as to why they haven't had the opportunity to upgrade, rather than them outright not being able to, and Lyse has the perfect opportunity.

For context: Y'shtola isn't Padjali so can't become a WHM, Thancred can't make up his mind as to his class, there are very few SMN and SCHs and Aphinaud, Alisae, and Urianger haven't pursued those arts (though it remains to be seen what art Alisae has pursued while away), and Papalymo never pursued void magic (due to it being rare, ancient, and inherently evil). Unlike all of the other Scions, Lyse is also not an Archon, meaning that she is not bound to the contexts of Sharlayan practice, and is now following her Ala Mhigan roots (again, where MNK is based), much like how Yugiri (also a non Archon "scion") is a Ninja, not a rogue.

TLDR - hell yes #2MNKs is likely.

I mean, the Warrior of Light's personality and outlooks on things are extremely mutable. Sure there's a few things that are a given (getting something resembling PTSD for the events at Ul'dah and the deaths of those around them, getting paranoid about poisoned drinks, having a shit-eating grin when piloting Nero's Reaper), but how they view lying, and how much they do it, is never established.

That being said, telling someone that the snazzy uniform they made for them "I mean it looks okay, but for one the fabric could use some work, and the color scheme is a bit weird. Here, take it back and try again" or something to that effect would be...I mean, come on.
