I honestly don't get why people are trying to say Gosetsu is a Hyur.. He's clearly just a Roe with a unique face model, there are several characters with them doesn't mean they're new races just because they use something we can't. Heck Lyse has a unique model, is she now a new race?..
That being said, he's definitely my new fave NPC.

Merlwyb has a unique face model but it still has the traits of a roe. Gosetsu is different in that his face is a lot softer and is radically different from what his race looks like. Lyse has a unique model, but it is heavily based on her old model which was a generic Hyur, they just added new eyes and her unique hair to the prexisting hyur model.I honestly don't get why people are trying to say Gosetsu is a Hyur.. I firmly believe that Gosetsu is a Roe and not a Hyur, however you can't deny that he is definately a different type of roe than we have encountered before.
Forcing a dumb outfit upon us with the quest line, then railroading our character agree that it's good (it isn't; those boots are ridiculous looking with the platform soles, the skirt is terrible for females, and the jacket too gentlemanly for any type of adventuring, the monocle has no place), then makes it so we can't just dump it in the armoire right away to free up space in our inventory and keep it off our retainers. Honestly this is a very shameful thing to force upon anyone, let alone everyone. Thumbs down for this part of the quest and any further ideas from Tataru. From her own story hasn't she yet learned that she can't help by forcing things like this? She should just stick to making the tea, doing the accounting, and keeping quiet in the background until the scions have a financial crisis that requires them all to get real jobs.
Time, as in years, doesn't move on until the lore specifically says so. Like it happens at the start of 2.0 with the "5 years later" canon.
As of now, we're still in the 5th year after the calamity. 6 years ago, when Yda died, was both before the calamity and before 1.0.
We never met her, we've always been with Lyse.
I loved the revelation, this is what I needed to make me interested in Stormblood. Yda, well Lyse, is always been one of my favorite characters and I'm glad they chose her for the next expansion.
I'm tempted to grind Samurai just so I can see more Gosetsu later, he's lovely.
Sadly I doubt you will see more Gosetsu as a SAM though you might get some unique dialog for having one levelled. He doesn't interact much with the WoL.
I am going to be honest, its going to be kind of fun going to a place where the WoL is an unknown. Time to take the WoL's stardom international:P
Gosetsu has a thin face that is very Hyurian in structure. He is much bigger than a Highlander while also being smaller than the smallest Roegadyn (thanks to a friend helping me to get the scale with her smallest-height Roe). I'm actually thinking Gosetsu may be another instance of a half breed, being Hyur and Roegadyn (as we saw with Hilde being Elezen and Hyur).

As for flavor text, I love Tataru. She is always asking the most important questions- do you serve someone who was once a foe tea?
As for predictions, a couple of friends of mine and myself were seeing how many of our guesses for the story would come true (hidden in boxes for double spoiler warning). I mentioned these things that made them go, "Xo mentioned this and that and- GD Xo."
1) On Omega:
The cocoon being the reason why Omega makes an appearance with significant power similar or exceeding Bahamut (as Omega was specifically designed to combat Bahamut while he was still at his absolute most powerful).
2) On Yda and her sister:
That Yda was continuing on her sister's fight, either out of guilt or admiration. However, despite calling the result, I had suspected this would come later rather than sooner- that we see both sisters together with the one losing her life and Yda taking the mantle as the girl in red while on Ala Mhigan soil.
3) On Papalymo:
His sacrifice was ultimately for "naught." Quotes because if not for Papalymo's sacrifice, the primal would have been free with no time for a counter attack or some other means of repelling it. Considering the Allagans were unable to defeat Bahamut, or capture him, when he was at full strength, something would have needed to be done. On the thought that the cocoon would forever contain it, I knew this was a doomed endeavor (again, with Bahamut, he can convert aetherial energies and make them his own- spells themselves are aether).
4) On the primal:
While I didn't really think it was Bahamut, and I did entertain the possibility of something like Nidhogg becoming a primal, when I first glimpsed the head and wings, I heard my husband say, "Bahamut Zero?" Once the body became visible, I told him, "That's no Bahamut. That's Shinryu." He didn't give in until the game itself said who it was; kind of happy I was able to call it before the game confirmed the identity.
I'm actually quite happy when you can put things together thanks to the help of lore. There is hardly anything more satisfying, to me, when a story, let alone a game, doesn't break lore or something that wouldn't make sense within its own history's confines.
