    This would explain why 'Yda' had a Archon mark, despite consistently displaying a lack of understanding regarding intellectual pursuits.

    Papalymo gave it to her in order to help her keep up her ruse. When the cocoon was destroyed, the last of Papalymo's life force and aether was gone with it, so the mark disappeared.
