That the same thing I'm wondering. I have a theory that we technically met the real Yda in Gridania's Opening Cutscene and first half of the 1.0 mission arc via the echo. So the Yda that we meet after we learn of the echo and meet an teen/adult version of Minfilia and anything going forward into Yoshi P's era as producer is not the real Yda.

weather or not we met the 1.0 yda or not is at best undicided as we dont have an accurate time stamp to pinpoint howlong the 2.0 story and the 3.6 is apart :/
the only sure fire thing we know of the 'real' yda is we saw her in an echo that was way before the 1.0 story even happend
To be honest, I feel cheated.
I was really looking forward to a great final battle and all I got was a solo Garlean encounter against a lousy character. Being teased with Shinryu and Omega who will be in an expansion I may or may not purchase isn't really doing it for me. It's clear they put very little effort into this portion of the MSQ, and I can't say I'm happy about it.
Of course, I get it. They're busy working on Stormblood. But that doesn't do me any good right now, and it doesn't convince me that Stormblood is going to be worth it. And they were able to pull off a great finale in 2.55 with Chrysalis and Steps of Faith, and then topped it off with an amazing ending cutscene while they were working on Heavensward, so I'm not even sure it's a valid excuse.
This was a pretty poor section of the MSQ. I'll go ahead and say 6/10 because I actually thought the story was fine, it just came at a really poor time. Something like this should have been left for 4.0, and we should have gotten something better right now instead.
Rant aside, I felt like Shinryu made very little sense, and using Nidhogg's eyes as an excuse for its form is flimsy at best. The Ala Mhigans were the ones who were suffering. They should have been summoning Rhalgr, not some beast they had never heard of before. Shinryu just got shoehorned in so it would make sense for the Interdimensional Rift. This part was pretty lousy.
As for the rest, Nero was great. I hope he actually remains with the Scions. Yeah, he's crazy, but I don't believe he's evil. He just has an inferiority complex.
Gosetsu I wasn't sure of at first. I'm not a fan of a loud characters such as him, but I see he has more to his character than that. I hope the dev team uses him well, and he'll achieve great things.
Yda reveal would have been a lot better if we didn't all see it coming, and the end result is just that she's been lying about her name the whole time. And maybe her personality. If she actually stops acting like Yda and starts acting like someone else (Lyse) then I hope I'll like Lyse.
And finally, they ruined the pacing horribly by splitting this into two patches. It's painfully obvious they're just stretching content thin to keep people playing. Terrible choice.
The 3.55/3.56 split aside, I'm still holding my breath for Stormblood. I wanna fight Shinryu and Omega and see how the war for Ala Mhigo unfolds.
Three Ilm Knights, One Thousand Malm Road

She is not Yda. She is actually Yda sister Lyse so yeap that is the woman in red. I pursed the game when she takes the mask of and went to youtube. Yda is actually Lyse and she is the woman in red. Yda died on a mission and her sister Lyse decided to pose as Yda to keep up the good fight. Can't wait to see her wear her new Monk gear which is what we see in the trailer.

Did ya'll notice the face smack dab in the middle of Omega's back?
Wonder what that's all about...
EDIT: Slightly different angle:

Is it just me or did Gotetsu reminds me of Gilgamesh AKA Greg. They acted so similar. I wasn't expecting him to be another goofy giant guy. I've stated previously in the Show Your Roe thread that I believe he's a hybrid Hyur / Roegadyn like Hilda is a hybrid Hyur / Elezen. He looks too much like a Hyur with a Roegadyn body frame. I would hope so he is rather a clue to 3rd clans for all races that SE kept hidden as s surprise for us all. Big leap, but I hope it's what it is. Not adding customization on an expansion with more capability is a huge letdown.

I did not notice that face there. I wonder whose is it. Kind of creepy.
