Kinda tired of being a healer.

To me beign a healer feels like you're just someones little slave. theres not any real reward for doing it and once again, in yet another game, you're never thanked for it and as soon as everyone dies, you're blamed despite the fact that the tank just fucked up, or the dps took too much aggro, ect. ntm my spells feel useless because the tank would rather play "the sacred soil is lava".

I really couldn't disagree more. People in this game are generally quick to apologize for dying, taking avoidable damage, or whatever even when it really wasn't their fault. Even going into dungeons where I didn't have the first clue what I was doing, people have been patient and forgiving if I did mess something up and I reciprocate by not complaining at people for standing in things. Commendations rain down from the sky on me just for showing up. Having said that, I've always found the notion that people should be thanked simply for doing the job they signed up to do so they could get into the content a bit strange.

I've had the mentality of both Valdima and Nixxe.

My experiences have been both rewarding and disappointing, and I think any career healer would say the same. I've been in parties where I felt like their submissive doll, and to keep up or they'll get someone who will. And I have been in parties where I felt like a precious plant, valued and protected. I do know that negativity weighs so heavy, and it is so easy to dismiss a lot of positive experiences when you get a bad one.

We may wear robes, but there is another kind of armor we wear. It makes us tough against the BS. Good groups reinforce it, bad groups can chip away at it. I can definitely understand if it gets chipped away at to the point that you just get fed up. If there is nothing rewarding in it for you any more that is very sad, and hopefully the community doesn't lose a healer. But I do hope you have given it every opportunity.

I myself have somewhat grown a bit fed up with healing, mostly because I have been a raid healer since early ARR and I want to spice things up a bit, so I switched to MNK for raiding and haven't looked back. I still enjoy healing the odd roulette and I enjoy healing in PVP, but I am tired of healing raids from the sheer burnout.

I never had much abuse as a healer (I can recall a few, but not many) but I can definitely recall times where someone else messed up and pinned the blame on me, but I tended to see this happen more to tanks than healers in my experience.

As for feeling like everyone's slave, eh, not really, you do your job, they do theirs, generally more responsibility is heaped on you since you have to pick up the slack if Tanks/DPS aren't mitigating/avoiding damage.

In all fairness all of our jobs play an important role to keep things going during duties. Healing the wounded or reviving those who died whether for stupid or accidental reasons isn't something we should be really worshiped for. That kinda stuff you'd normally see in animes haha.

Personally I'm happy that there's progression when I play the healer which I mainly do. If I get comms I get comms, if I don't it's not like it matters much.

Besides, how do you think some DPS mains feel when they put in all the effort for maximizing their dps to the best of their ability and kill things so quick you barely spend much time in the duty, only for a healer to get all the comms simply because they healed some lost HP. Kinda stings.

All in all, all of our roles whether it's Tanking, Healing, or DPSing are equally important.

It's seems to be a popular opinion that if no one notices you, you're doing a fine job as a healer.

If someone does notice you, it's usually to scream at you or wonder why you're letting them stay so low for so long.

It just makes the few times when the tank goes "you're an awesome WHM" that much better though.

So, first, take a break. Love healing or maybe not, any time the stress of something starts to weigh on you, take a break. Seriously. Play another job, play another game, whatever.

That said, liking healing does take a peculiar sort of mindset. It may well not be for you, and that's OK. But maybe it is and you just, as mentioned, need a little break

It's really a mixed bag. Sometimes it's as you say. Sometimes people try to pin utterly ridiculous things on the healer. (And, you know... we aren't perfect, sometimes we really did mess up).

PvP games tend to be far worse (and FFXIV's the feast was no exception about it) though. Still, it happens even in Pve.

I don't mean to imply nobody ever has a bad encounter. It certainly does happen. I remember a ninja who basically spent the entire run yelling at me while I was a bard. It was my first trip into the first turn of the first coil way after it ceased to be relevant and while we wiped once, it had nothing to do with me. I just take it as a given that when interacting with people, you'll meet people of varying levels of agreeableness and I don't sweat it if every now and again someone is a complete jerk. On the whole though, my experience with this game has been overwhelmingly positive, especially compared to certain other MMOs I played for over a decade where I watched all manner of ridiculous toxicity take place in even the easiest and most casual content all because someone thought they had something to prove and something to gain by proving it.

I can relate, which is why I alternate between AST and SMN.

I absolutely LOVE being involved with DPS, which I tried to always do as a Healer. I just found myself getting frustrated with other players (namely Tanks) that just would NOT work with me regardless of what I would request. My priority is the Tank, but it's difficult to do my job properly (and help out with the party DPS) when the Tank will not meet me halfway.
