    Heavensward outstanding expansion....

I have not completed the full HW campaign yet....

But.... I have to say this is one of the best expansions I've seen in any game.

The ARR campaign while good, was in reality kind of juvenilish at times. And I don't mean in terms of "not adult" but quite literally there are portions of the story that look more like it was designed for little kids... and doesn't even make Teen level.

Characters dying that I was supposedly going to feel something for even though I knew them all of 2 seconds, no emotional attachment to anything really. Silly and obvious plot twists etc, the whole 9 yards.

But wow the story for Heavensward is deep and meaningful, and very exploratory. Its also much more intense...

The content has truly absorbed me. I'm only about half way through but I was so sucked into the story in this one that I'm actually addicted to it. I seriously want to know what comes next.

And the quests improved a great deal. ARR was mostly meaningless fetch quests... and not even many kill quests at that, just a bunch of running around for the most part... Heavensward still has them... but they have a lot more to them than just bring this here or there.

I could get into the general game improvements and character design decisions which again are really spectacular...

But I have to say after going through the ARR campaign... and then through Heavensward... there is such a massive difference its like night and day.

The only thing i didn't like about Heavensward was as part of MSQ where you did quests for moogles. it was awful! luckily Yoshi-P has promised no more quests like those awful hide and seek quests with the moogles

You haven't completed it so you don't you know the pain of

    A) The wAit between 3.0 and 3.1

    B) Being around for diadem's launch

    C) the raid being so hard and pointless that it kills off any drive for most of the raiding sCene to complete it

    D) Diadem BiS for a few weeks, and then a quick nerf immediately killing it

    E) rEd scrips

    F) Blue scrips F

    G) Crafters are no longer required for melding - YAY, the only thing that crafters could do is now gone! Awesome! Gathering still tied timed nodes, except for a good while all of their time was dedicated to a weekly currency! COOL!

    H) a wHole bunch of other disappointing things.

This has been a dreadful expansion.

Lol I have run into a few of the hide and seek quests like that,

The latest one I found in the Cloud, the bird men from one of the tribes are fleeing, and so you help them find one of these sky islands to flee to. But once they get there there's these bugs they're allergic to... and you have to fly up there on a flying snake and blow them out of the trees... those are some tricky buggers to find... heheh.

I thought it was unique though and different so I did like it.

To me it was ARR with a better main story and that's it.

Only positive I like was PotD

    PLZ add objectives in PotD

    And what Alash said

    Glad you're enjoying it Silverquick.

I love Heavesnward too. For me it had an improved story over ARR and added more content types that I enjoyed with normal mode raiding, Aquapolis, and Palace of the Dead.

Personally I didn't like Heavensward as much as ARR.

Glad you like the story...I truly wished I like it too but as a personal rule if it takes too long for a plot to be good, I automatically drop it and forget about it. Which means if in 20 hours nothing important happens, I just play for the gameplay.

At least the PvE is okay and kept me going, but wished it had more than just 2 dungeons and 1 raid that becomes obsolete in matters of weeks!

That's debatable... Heavensward was a weird expansion. Heavensward was meant to be the expansion which was suppose to change things up but that never happened so people may be disappointed in that aspect. Also there was pieces of content like Diadem and Lords of Verminion which I would honestly say is their worst creation so far for content. The wait for 3.1 didn't help the expansion very much especially when the content that came with 3.1 was pretty poor that even the dev team themselves said it was pretty poor.

There was also the whole raid scene fiasco... which pretty much killed the raid community at the start of the expansion when Alexander Gordias Savage released and only now the Raid community has begun to heal.

Personally I wouldn't say it was a outstanding expansion, I would personally say it was a "okay " expansion. They could have done better with the expansion instead of just mainly cloning ARR.

The story was presented better than ARR I can say that much but you only do that once unless you have an alt.

I don't know how much weight this holds but from the looks of your start date on the forums you may not have been around in the game for very long? If you were at the start of the Expansion and played till the end I'm sure you could look at it more critically.

It's your opinion anyway so if you think the expansion was outstanding then I won't say you are wrong because everyone has their own personal views.

Yeah for me it was mostly the Story and the way it was told, it was much more engrossing and exciting. The history of the Elezen and Dragons, the foundations of the Dragoons, and why the war actually took place... and more importantly... what some of those Dragons you were fighting really were.

Also I admit I liked the addition of flying, its like your own personal airship.

And for me much easier to keep the contextual world fluid. Riding in the Magitech Armor as if it were an Airship is much easier to explain how I suddenly have my Chocobo with me when I bring it out.

Not to mention just how incredible the flight actually is.

The new jobs are fun and make sense in the context of the world.

    Its truly an enjoyable expansion...

This DRG buddy in my FC who is new to the game as well is also just having a blast in this one.
