NieR: Automata Crossover Event

Me and my partner are also of the opinion that NieR makes just as much sense as the other crossovers, do not forget the Garo one too. All you need to do is make it fit into XIV and it's done. You don't need to disregard the lore of XIV, just the lore of Automata, and that's fine for a crossover event that's not occurring in Automata's universe. /shrug

Doubt it will happen but they could easily have it make sense.


Emil is like the ultimate magic user in the nier universe (sort of like shantotto is from XI) he could easily show up through some dimensional rift or something. In nier automata he also serves as a merchant of special wares. So just have him pop in with some dilemma, (alien machine chased him through the dimensional rift and now they are causing havoc in eorzea, but emil has an idea. Help him gather parts to repair some broken yorha units by doing fates to kill the machine life forms. With the parts gathered emil pulls out pod 042 and pod 153 from his knapsack, and they conduct the repairs on the yorha units. Ta-dah, 2B, 9S, and A2 have arrived in eorzea. Now work with them to stop goliath class machine life forms that are headed straight for each of the three main cities! Emerge victorious and claim your outfit, weapons and hairstyles. Emil apologizes for causing so much trouble and teleports away forever, and you're left wondering if this was all just a dream )

Then that's not respecting Yoko Taro's work (and it goes against what Yoshi-P has said regarding cross-over/cameo events).

As you said about KH, "as the FF characters used in that game are not directly from the game they originally came from... unless Yuna, Rikku and Paine were pixies in FFX-2 the entire time and I never noticed" - you would be doing the exact same to NieR's characters for an event like this. Is it not okay as long as they're "not directly from the game they originally came from"? Or is there a double standard, because that's exactly how it would work.

Your idea implies that they were always on Eorzea and therefore removes any reason for making it a cross-over event. That won't work.

It works for Xande/Crystal Tower as that isn't a cross-over event, but something that was written into FFXIV's world with its own lore (Allagan Emperor). Same applies to the Warring Triad.

FFXI and FFXIII's cross-over events brought characters from other games into Eorzea (same personality and such), one of which is freely capable of void travel. DQ made a homage, Yokai Watch brought Yokai minions and Garo, as far as I know, is mostly just armour and mounts.

I'd rather have something new to play with possible a new emote over clothing since XIV characters don't have 2Bs beautiful butt or dem hips. Ducking out of the thread immediately because I have yet to play and want to go in blind. I wouldn't mind a crossover as long as it has 0 to do with the plot and more of a situation. Kind of like Raiden in MGSV: Ground Zeroes. Cyborg ninja from the future slicing watermelons. Nothing about MGS2/4, and even less about Revengance.

Did you do the Yokai Watch event at all? I am guessing no, because there was plenty of dialogue - *story*, with the event NPC and even the Yokais themselves which explicitly stated the Yokai spirits were always on Hydaelyn (the planet on which Eorzea, Othard, Garlemald etc are on) as they came with a far Eastern traveler from Othard to Eorzea. Yet that event was a crossover. So NieR would literally be doing the same thing as the Yokai event. There is no difference at all in how it would be immersed into the XIV world. It would work, you're just going "no" arbitrarily. Your points are invalid.

It works for Yokai because they're magical demon monster things. NieR takes place on Earth, which is where the entire cast of characters live (which Hydaelyn is not). I am really trying not to drop massive spoilers to tell you why this cannot work.

What you are asking is for the XIV team to disregard NieR:Automata's plot and lore just to shoehorn characters into FFXIV's world, where their goals wouldn't really work (no threat of extinction or alien machines).

Drakengard has a much higher chance of being a crossover (though still unlikely, as Yoko Taro would have to write some other ending to the game in some novel or something to make sense of it all).
