What if you could see your Focus Target's facing indicator/target ring at all times?

Most bosses have lethal mechanics where you need to be able to see their target ring. (Examples: Scrapline, Radiant Sacrament, Biting Halberd, Left/Right Laser Sword, Shadethrust.) Tanks/DPS usually already have the boss targeted, and will have no issue.

As a healer (particularly the main healer), you often need to target a party member to heal them. While doing so, you can't have the boss targeted (without mouseover macros).

This means that healers who want to do mechanics correctly are forced to change targets to the boss and back, even in the middle of heals. I know that some more-casual players just guess, because they did not want to untarget their tank.

I personally think it would be a massive quality-of-life change for healers and others if we had the option to make our Focus Target's facing indicator / target ring visible at all times. To avoid issues, it could be given a different appearance, custom color, and the ability to be toggled off.

I had to remove numerous details from the first post in order to fit within the character limit.

I don't think it's difficult to switch targets to see the boss's hitbox or direction, I just find it odd that healers have to do that while tanks and DPS usually do not. Especially when things are going downhill and a healer is trying to save a raid against all odds, having to switch to the boss repeatedly to ensure they dodge mechanics can make or break whether they pull it off.

I do know that in many or all cases you can determine the boss's facing/hitbox without targeting them, but I definitely do not enjoy relying on those clues.

I also know that this problem affects a healer a lot less if they are DPSing, but when main-healing, or when learning a new fight, it would be very valuable.

I'd also like to preemptively emphasize that not everyone can (or even wants to) use mouseover healing macros to work around the problem.

    A thousand times (Yes, please.)
It's not just a healer issue. DDs sometimes need to see focus target's facings while targeting adds.

There's an additional consideration that needs to be taken during these situations, though, and that's that because all the effects in this game are so opaque, it's difficult to see the target ring at all even when you're targeting the boss because of all the AoEs around him. I would be so happy to see the proposed focus target targetRing implemented. I would hope at the same time that such change also came with target ring visibility taking higher priority over ground effects.

Ah yes, I forgot to mention that part (character limits again probably), but I agree. Scrapline during Full-metal Faust, Laser Sword during E.D.D. Sometimes you think you're doing it right, but the tank rotates the boss and you couldn't tell. While it's definitely an issue, I find it slightly less offensive. Maybe the fact that everyone is in the same boat as you and has to check the boss's position, unlike the healer situation where you are the only one having to check.

I agree that needs some help too. I even have party effects set to limited, and even just flaming arrow and salted earth and sometimes even player bodies get in the way of seeing the facing arrow, especially in a 24-man. Especially on a tiny little boss like Diabolos Hollow, but sometimes on larger bosses as well.

So what you're saying is that I can edit a post afterwards to override the character limit? Testing. Oh, yes I can.

I don't need this myself (I don't tend to use the ring) but this is an accessibility improvement so I wholeheartedly support it. Someone posted recently in General about an option for making the facing indicator's visibility better to stop it being masked by raid effects and I agree with that too.

I would very much like to see this happen.
