Curious Question... DPS Class players and Dungeon Commendations

I am curious for other players of DPS classes.

I under stand that generally Healers and Tanks get a lot of Recommendation Marks in Dungeons and it does make sense... given that they are the ones people will recognize most.

But I actually tend to get a lot of them playing a DPS class...

So How many other DPS players here get a lot of commendations after dungeons runs?

I want to get a good gauge on it.

I remember I had a good 50 commendations by the time I reached level 50 and that was only doing 1 or maybe 2 dungeons per level.

What is everyone else's DPS experience with this.

I'm a healer main approaching 3,000 comms, but I've leveled a number of tanks/DPS classes. At cap, I like to do my roulettes on BRD for a change of pace. I notice that I get quite a few comms on BRD, likely because I try to keep Foe's Requiem up as much as possible for caster/healer DPS and use swiftsong whenever combat ends. Regardless of which class I play, I try to keep an eye on the DPS players and if they're performing well, using their utility skills and cooldowns regularly, I'll throw the comm their way, since I feel DPS rarely get rewarded for good play.

Of course, some people give out comms randomly, or comm somebody with a nice glamour/name, or just someone who was personable and chatted throughout the run. It isn't always about performance.

I feel comms mean pretty little so if I'm playing healer I will give the tank the com and if playing dps give the other dps the com unless I think they did a horrible job then I will pick someone else.

I just about always leave a com during a run, unless everyone else was terrible (and my standards for terrible are much more forgiving than most). During a run where no one was terrible or exceptional, I give a com to the DPS if I'm DPS, and to the healer/tank if I'm tank/healer.

Because the game encourages commendations with a weekly challenge log entry and gets people into the habit of leaving them, not every com you receive may be in recognition of a job well done - just a job adequately done.

As for my personal experience when I play DPS, I receive coms pretty regularly, but I'm hesitant to chalk it up to exceptional play. (Or, possibly, I'm much better than I think I am...)

Seems like everyone noticed tanks and healers get comms 24/7 so now people over corrected the other way. I mean I still get a guaranteed comm each run from tank/healer but the amount of comms I've received as DD has gone up (from 0 XD), sometimes I have no idea why I got them. Just.. huh. Lol

I think comms is a fun way to focus on the positive each run but I think it could be improved as a system, like being able to comm more people even if it uses some sort of daily/weekly, number of party member, class, whatever limit (probably shouldn't be allow every person one).

Anyway, yeah seems like people comm DD now just to mix it up sometimes.

As ridiculous as it is, I've found the best way to get comms as dps is to sort of force yourself to be noticed for your contribution. I have macros on my BRD announcing (very simply, no crazy speeches) when I use any of my songs, I make sure to be the one that uses the LB on a huge trash pull, say hi or joke around in party chat during the run. It's a lot more effort to get the same results healers and tanks do for just silently doing their job, but... hey, whatever works.

Honestly a lot of the time when I get coms on my summoner its because the Tank has already bum rushed out the dungeons exit so they sometimes just fall onto my lap. xD

    Least thats what I'm assuming.

Easy to pile up comms as a DPS:

    - Use proper AoE rotations
    - Play your songs
    - Use Goad
    - Use Warden's Paean
    - If aggro'd, run towards the tank for easy pick up

These are so rarely done, you'll wind up with comms simply from player shock.

Lol well I suppose that might explain it...

Still I am definitely interested in other DPS experience here as well.

Yep. I noticed once I started spamming Doom Spike, I wound up with at least one comm; two often enough. People love speed running everything, xD.

On the other side of it, if I get a Goad. I want to stop and hug that Ninja.
