I rarely ever get commendations on a DPS. On Black Mage, I can consistently be the highest DPS and burn all the things to the ground with triple Flares and nobody cares. On Bard I can keep up Requiem with Battle Voice and even prolong it with MP pots, play swift song out of combat, and use Paeon or Ballad when really needed and nobody cares (even for a tick or two in between pulls to make sure the Warrior tank has TP or the healer has MP before the pull, or help DPS who burned all their TP on AoE before the next mass AoE pull).

On Paladin I can swap back and forth between Shield/Sword Oath to maximize DPS, never lose aggro, pick up adds before people even realize they are there, do the offtank's job, use Cover on prey targets so they take no damage (omfg what is Cover nobody uses it :O), and nobody cares.

On White Mage I can keep up regens 100% of the time, never let anyone die, use Cleric Stance constantly while pumping DPS and multi-tasking, and nobody cares.

I can consistently take time out of my day to explain every fight and mechanic to new people, help them learn their job/role, and nobody cares.

Who really gets commendations? Usually people dressed in bikinis who act like total sluts in party and flirt with everyone. It doesn't mater what role you are on and how good or bad you are. It only matters if you act like a whore and are dressed to match.

DJaySaint that's not completely true be a cute lala and you will get comms and hugs. I agree with you that comms are given for stupid reasons a lot but I've got a lot of comms for actually playing my classes, maybe I'm just lucky? Yet I agree that people give comms for reason like glamour and things like that but in all my runs I've never saw people flirt to get comms. Maybe make jokes because of a glamour but that's not really flirting just joking around and being friendly.

One thing has to be remembered is that if you're doing DF, you can actually end up in a party where the 3 party members were premade. Guess who gets all those comms *wink wink*

Aside from that, I typically get at least one comm every run. It could be because of what I said above but yeah I rarely make it out of party without.

Oh another I just remembered, the "later" you leave a party, the greater your chances at obtaining a comm. Conversely, leave too early and you might get off with nothing, even if you were the mvp in that run.

As for who I give my comms to, to be honest, I just give it out willy nilly because the content I run is already faceroll and everybody pretty much played pretty well clearing it. So I guess its easier to say that people who make the faceroll content harder than it should be don't get my vote.

Last thing is people who will get 100% my comm are basically run-saviors. Like, 5% left on boss, only you're left alive and you manage to kill it or bust an lb3 and rez everyone into a second chance? Yeah you're getting my vote.

Dps do tend to get the least comms but they do still get them quite often. So I'll usually try and reward one of them first. Keep in mind that a lot of players are lazy and probably don't think of tossing comms around.

    Anywary my comm process is
    1. Attitude
    2. Competance
    3. Appropriate role/race (roegadyn tank, lala mage, etc.) and Appearance

Sometimes I give comms, sometimes I don't. Sometimes I get comms, sometimes I don't. I don't really mind if I get them or not, however nice it may be. I can get comms on pretty much any role however I tend to get more as a healer. Most of the time, I'm just there to get in and out, but I will say "hi" and "ty" whenever I remember or try before someone leaves. Often times, someone leaves before I can say "ty" at the end anyway.

The people I tend to give comms to are anybody I think did a great job, no matter the role that is played or anyone that has saved a run from a wipe.

I find in lower level stuff healer tends to get the auto-coms (if no body really stood out). For tank it's a little hit-and-miss in any content, I've got a lot of tank friends, and most the time good main tank gets ignored in favor of barely-competent healer lol (I would know, I've been that healer).

I've noticed with the way the newer content goes, people are paying more attention to DDs for coms. They can see when things are dying so fast healer doesn't even really need to heal, and with all the recent DPS check content, and the desire to speedrun for tomes/relic, it has made people appreciate the DDs that can at least adequately perform lol.

But overall I find coms don't get sorted based on performance. Most of mine have come from simply being friendly, or because I'm the lucky DPS with the raise button when healer goes down. I'm sure someone out there has given me one or two for doing good at my Job, but most people don't really pay enough attention to tell the difference.

Yeah its hard for me to say really,

I mean tonight as an example I did Dusk Vigil for the first time, never did it before, (did several dungeons tonight for the first time)... two things happened in that one at the end.

I did thank everyone for the group, and even did a /bow to the healer who seriously kept me alive during the Griffon fight, that whirlwind caught me off guard the first time as I didn't know the mechanics since it was my first in there. But we really didn't talk at all while going through.

But at the same time I was doing a lot of really good AoE damage, and had kicked in Raging Strikes at the end of the Griffon fight and hit a 1900 crit with Fester on the Griffon for the kill shot.

And at the end got 2 Coms when I left the dungeon.

I was courteous, like usual, and I liked the group they were very proficient.... but we didn't talk much outside the end of the dungeon.... and I admit my damage was really high. So its really hard for me to say which particularly did it.

I get more comms if I greet people or emote...which really turned me off of caring about commendations. If I don't say anything or emote it'll be maybe one in four instances I get a comm even if I know I performed well.
While I've been leveling my tank I noticed I get two or three even if I don't say a word.

As a tank if I get a dips that pushes a ranged mob into my aoe pull that's a insta commendation. Also if they are more friendly or talk more to.
