Important Information Regarding North American Data Center Relocation

Chicago seems popular for a central location for other games. Also remember SE has offices in Quebec, low dollar, and tax breaks. Which means financially it could be better for them to move inside the city if they found a facility.

I could live with a week if A) inventory is truly fixed and B) players who meet housing requirements can get one. While loading screens aren't optimal I don't find them a detriment to my game play.

Hello, I'm currently playing from Tahiti, French Polynesia on Primal and this is kinda bugging me of.
I just pinged the Primal Data Center and got an ~210ms ping, what can this relocation can mean from us, playing from French Polynesia ?
Will I be still able to play on Primal without too much lag ?

From what I know, we are directly connected to Hawaii thanks to Honotua' cable

Most latency are caused by the routing through Level3. If they can avoid that.

As an EU player who stayed on Excal after the establishment of the EU data centres, I want to know how badly this affects us. While I understand you cannot disclose the new location yet, even a general location (East/West Coast for instance) would be great.

So if NA servers are down for a max of 48 hours, we are only getting a compensation for 1 day? Come on SE you can do better then this! If we can't play for 48 hours then you should give us 2 days compensation. There is 24 hours in a day. Learn to do your math. We all pay a subscription to this game, so I feel that we should get 2 days compensation.

While they learn their math, you may learn to read the terms of use, wich clearly state that they arent forced to give any free subscription days for mainteance. Complaining about it is also quite silly.

When my partner and I have been discussing the move the cities we kept coming back to were Chicago and Austin since they are fairly central between the two coasts. Level3 was recently acquired by Century Link which is building its own fiber network so maybe in coordination with that we will start to see an improvement through Level3? maybe. please. don't burst my bubble.

I hope the new datacenter is somewhere central rather than on one coast or the other. League of Legends is operating their servers out of Chicago, and that game is even more latency sensitive than FF14 and has to deal with a lot more throughput.

I have a bad feeling that since they aren't going to reveal anything abou tthe new servers "for security reasons", that they're just going to move it to the West Coast and screw half the continent with garbage ping times, though.
