In conjunction with the relocation, we expect a maximum downtime of 48 hours for those players using the NA servers. The EU and JP data centers will also experience downtime of up to 24 hours to allow for maintenance required to connect existing servers with the new NA data center. To compensate for play time lost, we are looking into extending all active account subscriptions by one day.

They'd only compensate for one day because that'd be the maximum amount of time we'd be under more maintenance than people on the EU and JP servers.

To phrase it another way, there would be no access to the game for anyone on any server for 24 hours. Only those on Aether and Primal would lose play time after that point though and they're only going to potentially compensate for that extra time.

In order to compensate players inconvenienced by this extended maintenance, those who meet the following requirements will have their subscriptions extended by the number of days required for maintenance:

• Service accounts containing characters on the Worlds within the Chaos data center (Cerberus / Lich / Moogle / Odin / Phoenix / Ragnarok / Shiva / Zodiark) before Friday, September 18, 2015 at 9:00 (GMT).
• Service accounts with an active subscription.

But the whole 48 hours thing is a MAXIMUM, not necessarily taking 24 hours extra.

They know their math. They could give zero compensation for a relocation like this.

Instead since this is outside a normal scope of 24hrs, they are compensating for 1 day.

While they learn their math, you may learn to read the terms of use, wich clearly state that they arent forced to give any free subscription days for mainteance. Complaining about it is also quite silly.

So by that logic, you're saying they should also give us a free day of sub every time maintenance lasts for a whole day. While that would be great, yes, I'd say we should be glad that they're giving us free time at ALL for maintenance that's been deemed necessary. They could've just as easily decided we don't get extra time at all and just treat it the way they do with major patch maintenance.

From the new post if only effects game sub and not retainers, so that going to mess up billing and get two different charges (one for retainer/one for sub)? If so they could of just kept that extra day.

The exact line they wrote was:

Subscriptions will be extended even if your subscription happens to end at the time of the extension. However, please note that this does not add retainer service subscription.

They're referring specifically to if your subscription expires during the maintenance and in which case that won't extend your retainer service. It doesn't say anything about not including retainer service for the normal extension so I think it's reasonable to assume that'll include it as well.

Echoing this. Why are we getting ripped off here?
I assume the reason is because it's difficult for you to separate the people who would get 1 day vs 2 days? Why not give everyone 2 days? Or hell, 3 days because of how incredibly inconvenient the move is?

I'm really surprised that SE decides to be cheap here. They're normally pretty good about compensation.
