    This is one of the few areas where I think ffxi did it better. Their summoners felt like a class version of the summons you get in previous classic final fantasy games. Here, summoners are more like an uninteresting pet class, where the pets look extremely generic.

    I always hoped that "Enkindle" will temporarily transform the Egi into their full size while using their signature move like we see in the Ultima weapon and Xelphatol boss fight.

    Well here's hoping that SMNs will atleast get the non-glowy titan, Ramuh and Zurvan-egi someday

    Please, for the love of god, can you at least hold off until we actually know everything that SMN will get in 4.0 before griping and moaning? Thanks.

    LOL, I main'ed SMN in beta, ARR, and half way through HW; long before you started playing FFXIV but thanks for trying to talk down to me with the first world jab. Also we are less than two months out until SB releases yet know little to nothing about this new enhance combat system they are adding. Add that to the "New Egis' in HW" and two year after that to release Carbuncle glamour... Summoners have a right to be upset.

    FFXIV's only pets jobs received new abilities that had nothing to do with pets so yea, people are disappointed.

    Omg Dyvid I remember you from 1.0 days, that's a name I haven't seen in ages ! (Babydoll here if you remember me) and yeah, I agree...the stuff in the benchmark that the SMN did looks like gigaflare. Possibly more Bahamut stuff and nothing pet related. Sadly I gave up on Summoner ever feeling like a pet class...I don't think the devs know how to do it really. I wonder what will happen when they give us all of Bahamuts abilities...lol remake the fight so we can have new skills?..heh

    Thing is, if they make it focus on the pet more, they have to make it so the pet is the focus of damage going out, as well as the smn itself. That means your healer now has to heal an extra person, or else the smn gets gimped when the summon dies.

    You can't put the focus of the damage in the pet, and then have it be immune to damage.

    not really, even a 50/50 division would be enough, not to mention they already take very little damage, and there is sustain, if sustain is not enough, one of the new skills could add another healing for pets or just buff sustain for it.

    also, pet management SHOULD be a thing the job has to keep up with, mnks have gl stacks, blm eno, why not make it pet management for smn.

    We have the ability to heal our summon ourselves and since not every boss is Ser Adelphel placing 20 stacks of bleed they can survive well enough even before all the damage ignoring powers the egis got way back and it wont cause stress on a healer to throw out a regen and thats if they would even want to since we can just swiftcast summon.

    Hell if the summon got more focus we could get a trait that reduces summon cost if the pet actually being relevant causes it to lose the damage resist as well as a new trait to buff sustain.

    MY point is, if they do the brunt of the damage, they should take damage too. So NIX the damage invuln they got, make them take damage just like the smn itself. make the player have to actively move the pet out of aoes while moving themselves out of aoes.
