The impossible odyssey of trying to clear Zurvan EX with the pf

I'm sorry if this triggers or angers some people but I really have to ask this before I decide of still playing this and it might be too long but it's necessary for the context of the situation.

First of all I'm a returning player after 3.3, the Nidhogg patch, got bored and took a long break, came back after an invitation from a friend with that campaign but practically I'm like in a new server as pretty much everyone but a couple of people I knew stopped playing too.

I love the fights of this game and I like to clear and farm stuff, so when I knew the Party Finder covered the entire data center I thought it would make clearing stuff and finding statics much easier, as my server is not exactly big populated and I wasn't exactly fond of the high end FCs... would prefer a midcore static or similar.

Managed to clear SophiaEX with the PF after some tries, with echo obviously and was pretty fun and easily, but then I go to ZurvanEX and it has been nigh impossible to clear, after so many tries even with people who are already very well geared there hasn't been any results and not only for me but for those others who I talked to who are also in the same situation.

So many fail at simple mechanics or it's something or someone who messed up and then everyone just leaves after two or three tries... even A9S and A10S were much easier to clear with the pf.

So my question is, what do you think of this situation and better yet, do you think you need a group of known people to clear stuff? do you think the pf is a joke?

This is because as I said I want to begin anew and I don't think my server is good for clearing stuff unless you are in a certain circle of friends, but at the same time I don't want to feel like the PF is only useful for clearing casual content.

And I don't think I'm a bad player either, maybe not ready for A12S but surely for everything else, and that's not counting the amount of salt I've received just by pointing the difference between a "learning" and a "clear" party.

You can go around the text limit by editing btw. Also I use to be one Brynhildr, after 3.3 it started to get empty, decided to go to Gilgamesh. Might want to try that, a different server can be new enough for you

PF is a mixed bag of nuts. It just takes time and patience. Eventually you may get a good group that will stick together long enough to clear with. I got my Seph Ex clear in PF and my Sophia Ex clear in the Raid Finder funnily enough. I never had a static group of people to run this content with either so I was stuck with PUGs. I often made more progress in the PFs I started myself then ones I joined. Just keep at it and you will get it eventually.

P.S. I did have to transfer from Siren to Gilgamesh to find groups to run Seph Ex with as this was before cross server PF was a thing.

And so people I talked to have said Gilgamesh has a weird reputation of elitists, but I guess it's better to at least have more people to run things with.

PF is data center wide. no need to come here.

PF can be good. PF can be bad. You are tyring to do content that has been out for months. People who HAVE cleared it don't join clear partys. Youa re stuck with the people who haven't. They haven't cleared it for one of two reasons. They are either bad, or they are late. Unfortunately, it seems the be primarily the bads who you got with. keep trying.

As others have stated PF is just like a 50/50 chance, however I have noticed that on some servers/data centers the percentage is more like 15/5 or even lower, with a lot of people that got carried through their first clear or have bought the clears.

The so called clear or farm parties have always been a disaster in my personal experience and opinion. I have a easier time, when not running with my static or friends, to clear things via DF.

Here again while it's a 50/50 chance or hit and miss like some people call it, I found that these people are more patient and more willing to explain or give it a couple of shots before actually clearing the content.

Some use it just as training if anything, rather than abandon and or rage quitting the whole party after one wipe. I sometimes wish, that all content would be on the DF the moment they are released and not split between RF/PF and finally DF after a couple of months, and while I understand that some people believe that some content can't be cleared without a static or at least voip, it's actually not the truth.

I would suggest, that if you think your data center is not that much populated, or a more leaned back data center to just make an alt or switch to a different data center and see how it looks there. In some cases, it's a difference between night and day, and makes the game much less frustrating. Or at least try raid finder and duty finder (if available for these fights) instead of PF, maybe you're happier and luckier that way, if you're planning on playing the more "solo" route.

The skill level of the majority decreased a lot these past few months in my opinion.
I think it's more a mentality problem since don't wanna invest themselves and when you try to give tips then instant reply "that's my sub i play how i want", yeah but buddy you're bad and actually wiping the party.

This is why i would just recommend you to go try those fights with friend and/or good players you've been with during your tries.

What surprise me the most is that Zurvan is actually too easy... I was waiting for an epic fight since it was the last primal before 4.0 but...
One hour after his realease farm parties were already up with 1 tanks/1 heal/6 dps...

I think the people exp enough to clear at 1st try hardly goes to PF and mainly keeps with their static/fc, and leaves as soon as they see clueless people. So this is the difficulty to put up a decent PF group.
