Potd teaches you nothing mobs die too fast. Players get to 60 and have no clue on even the basics of their job. Sure, rotations change a bit at 60 for some jobs but when you have lvl 60 drgs that don't even know what the fak heavy thrust does, yea, it's on the player to learn but also blame potd. People are helpful in low lvl dungeons and willing to help and teach, but at 60? Gtfo. If dungeons are boring how is potd more fun? Oh it's not? It's just faster? Cool. Take alll that extra time you saved leveling up so much faster to learn your bloody rotations BEFORE YOU ENTER LVL 60 CONTENT. if everyone who lvld up in potd took the time to do that we wouldn't care how fast it is. Have at it. But nope. All you impatient people who want to level up fast don't want to take the time to learn either.

I suspect it's the OTHER people in POTD who aren't interested in spending 10 secs for someone to adjust their toolbar and learn as they go. Solo-ing potd is a good way to learn as you go, refine your rotations and techniques, etc.

I personally love learning classes in PotD but I also take the time to read what my skills do and figure out how everything works together, and if I can't figure it out look it up or ask (although the only one I had issues with was lvl 60 mnk, which isn't even lvl 60 yet). I feel it's also unfair to say people had to learn their classes before PotD tho. Before PotD happened I ran into lvl 60 healers that spammed 1 button, tanks that couldn't hold aggro, or dps that were just button mashing. Can't blame content for people not taking incentive to learn, that's on the player. However I don't really think PotD needs a bonus, I mean yeah it's kind of becoming old content now but it's still a valid way to lvl. So I guess I don't see the point in incentivizing it more?

Blaming Palace for bad players is nonsensical. Leveling didn't teach anyone how to play, regardless of how you do it. You learn by putting in effort yourself, and that's what people aren't doing.

If it's POTD's fault that some kinds of people can somehow get to 60 without bothering to read their action descriptions even once, shouldn't they reduce the exp from that and from levelling roulette and force people to level using slower, unsynced content? I mean, who learns anything about playing WAR at high level by tanking Tam Tara Normal daily for a month with a tiny portion of their eventual moveset unlocked?

I think the wrong thing is being blamed here. The lack of level-appropriate ways to get stronger and the lack of content which forces you to do something other than faceroll the keyboard until endgame are the true issues.

(Disclaimer: I have never used POTD to level in my life.)

I have, I levelled NIN through PotD, and I did learn my job through it. PotD is actually much better for learning than fates because I started in floors 1-50 which built up my skills over time so I could at least see what was new even if I didn't use them, and then spamming 51+ allowed me to just practice endgame NIN before I got there. I'm not a great NIN by any stretch of the imagination but I can do dungeons and 24mans (and maybe stretch to Alex NM, though I missed the boat there with NIN), but I know all my skills and utilise them all the best I can. Honestly? I wouldn't have learned to use trick attack for a while if not for doing PotD 51+ getting me used to an endgame rotation.

I will admit this doesn't work for all jobs, BLM in particular is an awful learning experience in PotD, and I feel like SMN might be too.

I totally disagree here. A player, cannot just go into POTD grind to 60 and jump into content. They still need to do the MSQ in order to unlock the content. That means, They have to play the game all the way through, to get to end game content.

If they still one button spam, stand in teh fire for the mystical fire buff, then nothing we, or SE, is going to be able to do, to improve their quality of gaming.

uhm, the MSQ doesn't teach you how to play at all. running from A to B to C and back to A and pressing through hundreds of message boxes is not really a proper way to learn your class ^^

but you are right with the other thing: people will only get better if THEY want to get better.

Which is why leveling method is completely irrelevant. The people that blame Palace for bad players are just grumpy.

Well I can understand why people don't like deep dungeon for learning jobs as it is nearly impossible. Everything dies too fast so you can't even begin to use a proper rotation let alone learn one as a new player to the job. I don't like doing potd that much and this is one of the reasons it drives me nuts not able to do my combos lol!
