    How to PotD! (My version)

I would like to maybe clarify some things for the newer Palace of the Dead players out there. Offer some advice and maybe help my fellow PotD Farmers.

Keep in mind. This are my opinions only. From possibly over 1000 runs in PotD, this is how I felt it is best ran.

PotD is fantastic for chilling out and LEVELING a job.
There seems to be a lot of debate on the Silver and Gold chest farmers. Whom, again in my opinion are misguided.
Everything is random. Amount of chests, what type, and in many cases if they go boom and lest we forget the dreaded MIMIC! (fyi focus a mimic to kill fast so no one gets POX)
I have focused on PotD in 2 ways. Chest farming and EXP farming. Sorry, no fancy graphs or spreadsheets to try to prove my point.

Speed Runs with proper group is essential to leveling your character using PotD. What I mean by proper is; if you have 3 people with white weapons and none are healers, speed runs will most often lead to a Duty Fail. However that many under 60/60 is relatively rare.
I can assure you that the silver chests will be available via quantitative speed runs.
What I can say with reasonable certainty is that Speed Runners are the majority now. I don't even need silvers but if only 1-2 mobs are in the way I will clear to it for whom ever is in party that may need it. Otherwise my sole objective is to kill the absolute minimum to get that stinking portal to light up then I B-Line right to it.

Individual results may vary. But yesterday I was at 99/99 for the umteenth time. I bought a weapon for a job I probably wont play. Took me to 39/39. I focused speed runs and in 4 hours I was over 90/90. Not once did I clear a whole floor looking for a silver chest and never do I waste time by fighting for gold chests. If it's right there I will click it, otherwise it gets skipped. Except maybe 91-100 for those illusive Resolutions.

Most people I have encountered have been some fantastic, fun people that I adored (you know who you are). Usually there is that ONE person that will hold up the other 3 for his/her personal agenda.
I always thank the group for doing Speed Runs. I usually just don't say a word if it was a horrible group and bail at end. That simple.

In the end majority rules. But turning a 5 minute floor into 15 minutes in the hopes of a single chest leaves a bad impression. I have seen 8-9th level Duty Fails because someone wants to get that ONE chest in a room of 9 mobs. Just not worth the time invested.

Try it for yourself even. It will even make the experience fun and enjoyable when there is no bickering. Oh and try being friendly, a little chatty even. It will make time blow by and before you know it you're saddened the floor is finished and the cool people are leaving.

Also, if that one person isn't on the same page as you. Vote kick them in the party interface. No harm no foul. Queues are almost instant. Don't make a scene. If 3 of you are at the portal waiting on that one person. Just boot'em. Let them go find a group that doesn't mind wasting time farming every box and killing every mob.

With the new jobs coming out soon. This proliferation of PotD speed runners will only increase.

I seen someone who made a linkshell called "potd" which I thought was a perfect idea for making premade farm groups with matching agendas. Maybe we should all try that.

    Sorry for the winded post.

Palace of the Dead is highly enjoyable. It reminds me of the old school AD&D game where you could randomly roll the dungeon layout, content, and monsters thanks to the charts in the back of the DM's Guide. Great memories of a simpler time.

Definitely agree with you. There is little reason to kill every single mob on a floor.

However, I'm a pokey lalafell and like to at least enjoy the scenery a little. (Actually, I suffer from fibromyalgia and it takes me a little longer to take in my bearings.) So, I suggest players have at least a little patience before vote kicking another player.

Also, don't rush faster than your party composition can handle. A group with no healers has to be a little more cautious than a group with multiple healers.

Wonderful suggestion about being chatty. It does help the time go by and makes the run more enjoyable. Who knows, you might even make a new friend!

My brother, if you edit a post it won't have a 1000 character limit. Thus way you needn't make so many consecutive posts!

I get that this is your opinion, but is this the best advice you can give to new players wanting to do PotD? Your thread seems like a rushed jumble of scattered ideas and unfinished thoughts. Can you actually explain to the new players the difference between chest farming and exp farming is? The only tips you offer on "How to PotD" is: 1. Kick players who straggle (but then go on to say that you should be friendly) 2. Kill mimics first. The rest is your personal experience on how many times you were 99/99 for trading in Kinna weapons. This seems more like your personal rebuttal to the "Silver chest farming in PotD, harassed by speedrunners. (More ingored PvE harassment)" thread than it is an actual How To.

I have been curious about POTD... but the more I hear about it the less I want to do it...

It sounds more like you guys are trying to play an Arcade game rather than an RPG.

While Diablo 2 was fun for a bit, it never was my thing...

And if that's what POTD is about I'm not sure I really want to join in.

Honestly the current dungeon runs in the normal mode are kinda that way. Not much time to enjoy the actual dungeon crawl.

potd is old school final fantasy in a sense. With diablo sprinkled in. it is randomly generated. some floors will have 3 rooms, others will have 5 or more.

it isn't bad. Just the "go fast" crowed kinda ruining it for others based on threads. I never been kicked yet, and i go searching for chests.
