Very true, but from the new description of Thaumaturge. Lowest Hp and armor should be the best damage by far. Why should Lancer be the hardest hitting since it can take a few hits, vs Thaumaturge which soon won't be.Well Black Mages are nuking specialists in FF..generally, so clearly they'll be more powerful being specialized but you also won't immediately become the key source of damage against Ifrit for example, since bosses usually don't take "full damage" from anything. So it's wait and see because there's also other things to take into consideration, e.g Magic resistances.
i don't know if Blackmage will be better DD than lancer. your point is good and it would make sense. but a counter argument could be lancer does more damage because it is more high risk than blackmage with range of enemy AoE. not that i'm saying i think lancer will do more DD, just pointing out things from the other view point
What I have shown you is reality. What you remember, that is the illusion.

Melee classes should do more damage in very very long fights. Although in the short fights like Ifrit, Black Mage should be the highest damaging in the short term, simple because of MP issues.i don't know if Blackmage will be better DD than lancer. you point is good and it would make sense. but a counter argument could be lancer does more damage because it is more high risk than blackmage with range of enemy AoE. not that i'm saying i think lancer will do more DD, just pointing outing things from the other view point
Lancer has good armor they can take a hit or two. Pugilist doesn't not have heavy armor, and a shorter reach meaning they have to be closer than a lancer. They should be doing the highest of the melee. Especially monk, since how many movies have you ever seen a heavily armoed guy get his butt whooped from a guy with his bare fists. Because the guys knows how to ignore defense.
