quick question about ps3->ps4 transfer

Sorry if this is the wrong area i dont really use forums.I just decided to finally transfer my ps3 character info to my ps4(yes i also made sure i transfered my info via the "ps3->ps4" button on the bottom right of the launcher screen and switched to the ps4 version via mog station). My problem is upon starting up the game it is asking me to create a new service account after logging in with my account info but it also says doing so will not allow me to import my pre-existing character data so if i want to ill need to skip this step. Problem is there is no option to skip this step its more or less manditory. Will creating a new account somehow erase my character info? Im just making sure im not making a big mistake before i go along with it. Sorry im just trying to get this squared away so i can continue playing with my friends.

Are you using the same PSN account on both consoles? It's been a long time since I transitioned but I'm sure it had the option to use a new service account or my old one the first time.

If it helps, by character data I think it means the saved designs you can store when using the character creator/fantasia interface stored on the console itself rather than your actual characters stored on their servers (not sure on the exact wording on your screens so double check, but just something to think about!)

Do not create a new service account.

I'm not sure exactly what's going on (did it add the ps4 license to your account? Check on the mog station page) but... yes, you don't want a new service account (if that's the exact terminology it used).

DO NOT create a new service account!

When I transferred my license from PS3 to PS4 (this was the first promo) after I opted to transfer my license all I had to do was download the game from PSN and log in when I started up the game it gave me two options "login with existing SE account" or "create new service account" and I just logged in with my existing account. I didn't transfer any hotbars though cause I was actually playing on PC at the time cause the PS3 version ran like crap and my PC run it better. Also by the way your character data is server side not client side so only thing the PS3>PS4 button does is transfer your hotbars and config settings.

Also as someone mentioned you want to make sure that your license did in fact transfer from PS3 to PS4 by checking the mog station.

I ended up going along with it. And i can now play i just have one account with my characters and one empty. I logged in the first time and it asked if i wanted to use FFXIV 1 or 2. I chose 1 of course and now im in the game with my characters and hotbars the only thing that changed was some settings i adjusted like UI size and what not. It even no longer asks me which account i want to use. I hope it doesnt come back to bite me later somehow. Thank you all for your responses i really appreciate it.

just recently upgraded, go to your mog station account and find the upgrade to ps4 button and click that, They send you an email with the code you will enter into the playstation store, then you just dl the game and choose i already got an account. If anything do not make a new account because itll transfer nothing not even your old characters and youll lose out on ce items and such as well as have to start over.
