    Any New Weaponskill Animations coming our way?DEV????

    I just saw the new video post for the upcomming lvl99 weaponskills in ff11 and it just makes it even more apparent how far behind the animations in this game are. 2 unique animations per melee class isnt cutting it. When will we get more? Will we have to wait till 2.0 or are there plans to introduce more up too the release of 2.0. Even tho most of the 11 animations are just hashed together older ws animations they are done well and they all stand out from each other. These star-wars lazer light effects arnt cutting it and it gets old fast seeing it on every new weaponskill animation that was introduced recently.

    I would hope that if they are axing numerous actions/spells/weaponskills; that the ones they keep would all have there own unique animation at some point.

    Somewhere they said they'd release some more animations in 1.21.

    1.20 is recycled animations for what best fits it.

    I know people say this a lot, but this applies greatly to your OP.

    Think of how old FFXI is. Now think how old FFXIV is.

    Also, FFXI has the luxury of being expanded upon more easily as it's not being redeveloped. It's something YOU KNOW FFXIV will be receiving in the future. At some point the game will depart from its restructuring and can only be expanded. At that time is the moment you should be more concerned with more of your flashy WS animations.

    Right now, yes, these things are still planned on being implemented prior to the official relaunch, but using FFXI as an example is a poor one. They are in two totally different places in the state of their development.

    Pointless defense. If whatever was in ffxi should have been a basic STANDARD for ffxiv. XIV is in the stone age compared to XI which is so stupid that we all just don't want to believe it's true.

    Thanks for showing me the new xi weaponskills but it just made me so disappointed that xiv is THAT far behind. How unfortunate.

    Actually, you make less sense than what I said. The examples I gave are perfectly true, but that doesn't mean you can't complain about it. Also, I played XI in it's infancy and this game has progressed faster and ascetically better with it's changes with XIV than XI. Let's not forget how long it took for XI to get to where it is. It took many years. XIV, launched, sucked and then went into full redevelopment mode. You have to consider this whether you dislike what you have now or not because it's a cold hard fact. You can't magically redesign every WS in a short amount of time.

    Storm's Path, Simian, Chaos Thrust, Bloodletter, Doomspike II, Rage of Halon released (Well, sans Simian; they decided to keep that animation) and look excellent. Also, were released at the same pace as XI weapon skills (Lately they have been getting them every 6 months), which btw, isn't suffering with reconstruction in the way.

    Lastly, the age of the game certainly matters. You don't start out with over the top animations in any game. Don't care what you're playing. The animations with XIV in the ending levels were awful and that was alleviated. Sorry, bro, but don't know what kind of world of ______ or any other MMO you've been living in recently that is brand new. It just never happens.

    They still look inferior to anything FF XI has. It's all glow and no substance. For some reason graphics division of FF XIV lacks some imagination imo. Which most of the new weapons skins show too. No idea how to make a nice looking moogle item? well lets put a moogle mascot at the end...

    My exact complaint light effects alone doesnt make something good and in some cases it takes away from the attack. Simian thrashing a giant mob causes a blurb of light to flash on your screen and u cant see shit happening the entire time. same goes w/ chaos thrust on larger mobs all u see are flashing lights. Too busy getting barraged w/ laser lights to actually enjoy the weaponskill animations to begin w.

    And saying that ff11 has had years to build upon this isnt a good excuse because its 2011 not 2001 and technology and growth alone shoulda never had resulted in us gettin the same generic animations for every single attk like when this game was released.

    man i remember way back in 2004 playing ffxi... first time i got Savage Blade, and Steel Cyclone, I was like /facepalm.

    You got to give it time for ffxiv. It'll will get better, call me optimistic but its how things work.

    I love the XI weaponskills.

    RoH, Simian (Seizure) Trash, Chaos Thrust, Storm's Path. All XI inspired.

    All I can say is something along the lines of 'moar boar wants moar'
