    [REQUEST] Have Target Ring / Boss Silhouette Supersede Spell Effects

    One of the core mechanics of (all) melee dps is positional attacks. For the most part, they are easy to achieve--find the place on the target ring and ready trick attack a--

    Oh, the Black Mage used Fire IV. Can't see either anymore. Doesn't matter I remember where the positional wa--

    Oh the boss spun while Deathflare happened immediately after the Fire IV. Well, time to wait a whole minute for trick attack to come back...

    It's not a major thing, really. It's just an annoyance that there is guesswork involved as to where the boss is facing because there is just too much explosions happening, it gets particularly bad when there's more than one black mage and summoner. Like against Scathach, it can be ridiculous to try and see the telegraphs because of WW3 going off on her face.

    If we could have an option to force her silhouette to supersede spell effects, as well as force the target ring to the front of the frame before any spell effects, that would make life as a melee a lot easier I think.

    You do know that you can turn off other player affects so this wouldn't be an issue seeing the hit box / target ring

    From the model itself i often cant see what way they are facing. Lucky bard doesnt have positionals or i would be screwed aseven the second i need to look at the ring and realising what way its facing is a second i cant dodge .

    I didn't think about this. At this point it's mostly a niche desire then, as it is fun to see the light shows, but thank you for reminding me of this particular feature.

    Different strokes for different folks. I like the target ring because there's no question where back ends and flank begins and when I play DRG I like to sit on that particular spot where both meet so I have minimal movement to meet all positional requirements.

    Also unless you have all spell effects off like mentioned above, big possibility mind and a smart alternative I'll grant, the enemy's model still vanishes once enough nukes start popping off.

    I did do that actually for the longest time since I thought it was annoying too, but at 60 (esp as MNK since every attack is a positional), I really noticed how it was impeding my ability to play as I had to know bosses different sizes & their correlations to flank/back difference as some have larger backs than others & I don't always see when smaller baddies that are being turned, especially in 24 man content where all I see is a blur of people & skills, so I turned the indicators back on as to me it is better that safe than sorry.

    Guess I never really thought about that, as I've always played with just the Ground effects from other players, so seeing positions on the enemy model is real easy without ugly markers

    My friends laughed at me when I only noticed the ground target ring recently after playing since the PS3 launch ._. I just assumed positionals were meant to be harder. Though melee isn't something I enjoy at the best of times. I am dumb.

    They have added a lot of visual options to improve accessibility for people with trouble using the original interface and I think this is a very reasonable suggestion; I remember I used to have huge trouble in 72-man FL because of the minimap icons until they were changed, and that kind of thing is definitely a concern so everyone can enjoy the game fully. Maybe post it in UI/suggestions and explain it's an accessibility option you'd like to see? It helps you do more damage and helps people figure out where to stand better so sounds like a win:win for all involved.
