Primals aren't even Primals. For example, Titan, Ifrit, and even Bahamut are not real. They're Aetherial manifestations of an image made by faith. Basically a being or group of beings use their faith and channel it into a crystal to manifest a primal. The beastman tribes did this with Ifrit, Garuda, and so forth. Yasyle did it with Shiva, and the Allagans did it with Bahamut.

The Warrior of Light is blessed to fulfill a task for the light when Darkness is out of balance. The Warrior of Chaos/Darkness appears when the Light is out of balance. That was pretty much explained in FFIII and has been the cornerstone of the numbered franchise (not sure if FFT, FFTA, ect have WoL/WoD).

Bit of a side track, but I think at least some part of them is "real". Sealing them beneath Silvertear Lake or imprisoning them in Azys Lla seems to prevent them being re-summoned, which indicates at least part of them can't be replicated through belief and aether alone.

I'm not entirely convinced that's true. Say you seal away Ifrit. The Aman'jaa see that he's sealed and 'believe' he is. So they don't bother to try and summon again. Faith is effectively broken. Could be a theory by the scions.

You might be right though too.

Or both theories are correct. Its just when you manifest something, it can't be 'cloned'. Like say the beastmen summon ifrit. Another tribe can't summon their copy of them.

Or the writers haven't thought that far ahead yet
