Which one do you plan on getting? Are you aiming for UHD,4K,high refresh for FPS games. I'm currently using a Acer x34 Predator frankly it is great! i'm using a GTX 1080TI and I normally get a about 90-110FPS at crowded places at max settings(For FF it's pretty hard to determine since places like Srank hunts or diadem where there are 72 players or more your FPS drops alot). What VGC are you using? You should do alittle more research on G-sync and all, alot of youtubers cover the issue with gsync. Most 34" are only able to clock 100Mhz, 32" 144MHZ.
It provides a bigger vission that's for sure, I'm able to see the entire leviathan boat if at maxed zoom out, my screen feels less clustered now giving me more options to adjust my UI and hotbars.
You can watch this channel, most of his content are 3440x1440 and get an idea.

If you plan to use a ultra wide for other purposes like the PS4 Pro, please be aware that the PS4 pro does not support 21:9 and will definitely have black boarders - not just the ps4 pro but streaming videos and other computer games, etc. It is not a big issue to me.
Please make sure you buy from a trustable source because getting a good ultra wide is like drawing a lottery, you might have to exchange a few times before you get one with minimal backlight bleed (dead pixels can be an issue too). Always and I mean ALWAYS test for backlight bleed and dead pixels, you can google those out, also make sure the policy states that you are able to exchange should there be more than 1 dead pixel, some shops only allow exchange if it is more than 3-4. The X34p is dated to be released this year Q2, so if you plan to get the x34 at a cheaper price you should wait for the x34p to be out first.

Lastly make sure you have enough desk space and you are at considerable distance from the screen, you should head down to the shops to see if the monitor suits you. Currently on the best GSYNC 34" on the market are the ROG PG348Q and Acer X34 are on par, but PG348Q have much better menu navigation system than the x34, but not an issue since you'll only be adjusting it once.
An advice to you, please don't invest on the acer Z35, despite having 200MHZ the res is 2560 x 1080 which looks very dull on a 34". If you have a budget I wouldn't suggest you go for GSYNC because you're paying a premium price for it. As of now ACER and ASUS are the only two companies providing GSYNC which is why their monitor are priced so high, I'd recommend you wait alittle more brands (like HP and PRISM+) are slowing implementing Gsync onto their monitor, as the competition increases between these companies the price should drop. In my opinion it is fine if you go for Free Sync because as of now GSYNC isn't worth it's price considering that they are like 200-300$ more.
I can go very deep into details if you're able to provide your computer specs, budget and what are you looking for (High refresh/ do you play alot of FPS games, etc). Also do not be fooled by the whole curve screen, immersive game play most companies are trying to sell you, your eyes will eventually adjust and right now it feels like a regular flat screen.
I had thoughts on investing on a high-end TV but at the moment most 4k UHD TVs have high input Lag, and it is fairly noticeable when you're playing games.
But it all comes down to your budget, I normally strongly advised investing in one but if you have the money by all means, but please I strongly urge you go down to shops, test it out and do some research. At the end of the day while I think it is great I'd still ask you to reconsider. I don't have a recent photo of my current set up, but this is a screenshot from a video I posted so pardon the quality.

When I got my 24 inches HD 1920 X 1080 monitor a few years ago it was wide. It's probably not wide anymore, and I'm sure bigger wider monitors exist now, but it's awesome to play with such a wide view.

It's really nice being able to see the whole arena at once. The scale of things does change the farther things are out to the sides though, so gauging distances between things that aren't centered will take a little bit of getting used to. You can also move interface elements out of the way so that you can still see around your character while you're interacting with menus.
Downside, places that already have a high level of camera obstruction when zoomed out because of tight corridors or foreground decorations (Toto Rak, Tam-tara, Gubal Library) will have even worse camera angles during the trash fights on an ultrawide. That aside, I'm quite fond of ultrawide gaming.

Eh, I just play ffxiv on a 60 inch 4k HDR TV. Problem solved
I play on my 55in lg uhd smart tv before that was an 43in plazma. Personally if you're going to invest in an monitor get an tv and you can also use as monitors.
Getting an GSYNC monitor is only good if your graphic card is an Nvidia and has GSYNC too. My new computer, I'm still missing stuff yet, but I've already bought an AMD graphic card, the AMD RX 480 with 8 Gig of RAM, and my current and sole Nvidia graphic card I've ever had, has done nothing but troubles and mess with my Samsung monitor and my computer.

Getting an untra-wide monitor has been the biggest visual upgrade i've ever had. 3440x1440 34"
LG 34 UC97 or w/e it was was really amazing, but it did have a little bit of screen tearing for me.
Running Acer Predator x34? now, it's got G-Sync and 100 HZ, but i liked the LG's screen better.
If you're into high visual experiences, it's simply gorgeous imo.
I'd recommend reshade or something along those lines as well.
I don't know how it feels to play with one wide monitor. Personally, I've set my desk with something like this.
It only works on windowed mode, but it's super cool, and you can easily have a "full screen" window aside when you want to follow a guide or just watch videos when you do boring and repetitive content (With the controller set to work even on background)
