People telling me how to play healer

I'm getting really sick of people telling me how to play AST. I have been kick numerous times from DF because apparently as a HEALER I have to use my cards. I don't understand, I'm a healer, here to HEAL. Why should I be forced to use cards to buff the party? Yoshida even said in the Q&A that healers should mainly focus on healing.
Please stop this elitism!!

That's pretty much what differenciate AST from other heals. WHM has big heals, SCH has protective heals with fairy heal support, and AST has buff heal.

I wish people on both camps would stop taking his statement so grossly out of context. All I really read into it was that he doesn't seem to like the healer DPS meta direction that the game is taking but seems uncertain at this point how to marginalize it without causing backlash (i.e "if we remove Cleric Stance people will wig out", which is of course true).

I do have to wonder if the shoe was on the other foot though, and YoshiP happened to say he liked the flexibility that healers have on contributing DPS and that he wanted to find more ways to incorporate that into content...would we still be seeing so much community outrage like this? Is this only happening because people have felt like they've been playing the game "the way it's meant to be played" the entire time only to maybe find out that it wasn't exactly intended and now might be changed?

That's not actually about what YoshiP said but the eternal debat of the heal DPS with a yes from the elitists and a no from normal people. Cleric stance basically exist for main heals to be able to quest alone without spending 1hour for each mobs but seems like some people don't get that.

Yes. The topic has two fairly clear factions and it really just takes any random spark to ignite the fire again. It has come up over and over without Yoshi saying anything, so it's safe to say his statement was simply another spark. One could have just made a thread suggesting healers should be left to heal now that 2 DPS are coming with stormblood and it would have the same effect.
