The duty finder is a group activity and there's an expected level of etiquette and play when you enter a party filled with other living players. More often than not, all that they're asking is that everyone adequately pulls their own weight.

Something that can be measured objectively.

While I hardly expect the average duty finder group to bring their A-game into EX Roulette, I do hope that some effort is put into gameplay. I've always seen it as proper multiplayer etiquette ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

The content was not designed to be speed run. In fact the developers have changes content to slow things down on several occasions. The implicit message there is that speed is not the intended method of play. You talk of etiquette, well remember that when you are next faced with someone who does not appreciate your efficiency. In fact you are the one wishing to impose your will on the game, those playing as intended are doing no such thing since they are playing as intended.

There's never an excuse for lazy play. You should always do your best regardless what content you're running.

I'll play as seriously for 24 man raids and dungeons as I do for savage or extreme primals.

Not designed to doesn't mean impossible or even difficult.

If the devs wanted to actively shut down any ability to speed clear dungeons they have the means to do so by adding various traps / monster abilities to directly counter the style of play. However they choose not to fully knowing that the game is built and relies expressly on content repetition.

You are also under the erroneous assumption that I personally will not adapt my playstyle to the ability and desires of the party I queue in with.

If i enter a party and the healer says that they aren't used to large pulls or someone speaks up and says it's their first time i have zero issues booting up netflix on my second monitor and sitting through an episode of House (or Iron Fist come the 17th) as we make the slow crawl through the dungeon.

I wont impose my will on the party or kick anyone.

However there are cases where a party member is grossly (and I mean by a massive margin) under-performing their role to the point where the rest of the party is struggling to complete the content (as in they are an active barrier to content completion), it's at this point i might say something about it.

But yes I would expect etiquette to dictate that if you enter a team of 3/7/23 other paying players that you bring your best to the table and not expect others to carry your slack.

Really makes the whole illusion of choice that comes with materia, crafting, and other things not related to the main stat rather worthless, doesn't it?

I wish it were different too.

You may say this, but I've noted a trend where the exact people that complain about other people even suggesting that they're not playing anywhere near as optimally as they should be, happen to be the exact same people that make threads on the forums complaining when something doesn't go their way in a run.

One should balance personal self-fun and a smooth experience for everyone involved. And selfish fun is not worth spending an extra 10 minutes arguing with 3-23 other people over something that shouldn't even matter in the long run anyway.

Not saying you are cause I don't know you but those type of people can often be like a helicopter parent pushing their views on others and if they don't do it that way and be the best then they call others a bad players for it.

That's a bit unfair. Can be, maybe, but you make it sound like most do. I unsubbed over this mess because the only reason I made the anima was to have BiS from completion to SB. Despite that, I am the most patient and supportive person you could get in the DF. You a tank uncomfortable with big pulls? I'll tell you "Pull what you're comfortable with. I'll keep you upright." Am I tanking and you're a novice or unsure healer and say so? I'll slow down on my pulls and experiment with maximizing my skills and rotations. You apologize for not being the best? I'll tell you that you were perfectly fine, what matters is we got the clear.
