Any chance to see servers merging ?

SE , To me (IMO) , my server seems to be getting less populated each day , I've only been back a couple months , but Uld seems alot emptier than it once was . After the 20th of this month , im sure its gonna seem even more empty . Whats everyone else's thoughts/feelings toward merging of some servers ? And if its a common desire , SE how long would it take to make something like this happen ???

I agree. They should merge the 2-3 less populated servers (and use the freed ones to resume the original FFXIV).

How i miss the good ol' villain-named servers...when the sky was blue, the water was clear, the grass was green, the lalafells were bigger than rats and everything made sense!

And while we are stuck in this game because of the FFXI fanboys, FFXI itself might be really reaching the "ultimate" FF position at next patch...while we cry about drag and drop, DB, search, sales history, balancing and other stuff now that are "too complex" to be done due server architeture, it's nice to see they all were scheduled to the first patch of 2011.

Sucks to think that FFXI is getting what FFXIV were meant to be receiving quality-wise. So yep, let's merge some servers and free space so the former dev team can revive the original FFXIV as a spin-off! /o/

why would because when ps3 come out or the later patch more and more people would join the game. Every patch the game floods with players last only a few days but more and more people are staying.

I wouldn't mind a server merge, so long as when 2.0 comes along we have the option to freely change locations at least once without charge. I feel that currently my server has far too few active players. It's kinda funny when you start to recognize and know everyone on your entire server.

There's a ps3 version coming out. Ps3 isn't getting ps3 only servers, unless they decide otherwise, but probably not. If your server is still empty after ps3 release then they'd think about merging. Its just what if they merge you and another server now, and then ps3 comes out and all of sudden you're overpopulated. Even with my Server Selbina I'm afraid about the ps3 release down the road, since we're sort of overpopulated I can't see them letting many ps3 people on the server.

PS3 version isn't for a full year away though, it'd be cost effective and maybe better for the player communities to merge and close a few servers in the meantime, then reopen new servers once 2.0 hits. As far as I am aware we're getting whole new server sets anyway.

Ok let's say they merge now then open new worlds guess what? all the new worlds only be full of new players that the issue why SE is not merging.

It's not really true. Assuming they use the same policy used in FFXI, when they create a new server they will allow players from other servers to apply to the new server. Depending of population balance, only certain servers might be allowed to apply though.

i suport server merge. They should lower the amount of servers to half and use the empty ones to resume the original FFXIV! /o/

Most people enjoy the people there with and linkshell so Merging would bring issue i think that why there not doing it.

i wont mind server merging for the servers that have less people it be great for them so they have more players to play with.

Not really a issue...i remember when they created the remora and [insert the other server name...forgot the name of the second server]...i remember they also did population balancing this time to specifically lower the population from Odin which was way too high...and due these features i say entire LSs changing server...the one i was at Alexander did it...the entire LS changed server...i just stayed at alex because i had my best friend there and he >>>> the entire LS.

But i heard it wasn't an isolated case...many LSs migrated from overcrowded/overcompetitive servers in a search of a brand new cconomy. The funny is that, by what i heard from my friends that migrated, most of Remora popuation was actually veteran, not newb...and this is exactly what would happen here i believe since a large part of the FFXIV pop are former FFXI players or FF fans that actually wouldn't mind following the suggestion of friends.

I don't see any kind of issue regarding server merge here.
