and making a 400-800 gaming pc?I have friends in Peru and Costa Rica who aren't going to be able to play anymore because the PS3 is being dropped and new consoles cost extraordinarily more for them to buy (Peruvian friend told me $800 USD for a PS4 for him) locally. People from poorer countries are going to be hit the hardest by this.
A gaming pc would cost much more than a PS4 there, especially since 99% of the people I've ever met bought most of their parts online. It costs way more to ship things there. On top of having a worse infrastructure, their domestic currency being worth much less, import fees, and average income being lower there's a higher likelihood of packages getting "misplaced". I've never sent consoles or PC parts to South America but I have sent action figures and it was a mess. Think of any of the issues you may have had to sending something Canada x10.
It's going to be a long time before I see those guys again after PS3 support ends. I've accepted that it's necessary for the game but it still stinks for them.
You cannot hold something back because of outdated technology. That is just asinine, even PC users need to upgrade eventually and since ps3 is about 2 consoles out of date if you include the new version of ps4, of course they are going to have to drop support for it eventually. Just like the new specs for the pc say you need at least a 760 card.
The ps3 is 11 years old, there is no reason we should have to have games and expansions coming out in 2017 still limited by an 11 year old console, just as it shouldn't be held back by 11 year old PC hardware.
When you are playing a game that has a potential lifespan of likely over a decade you need to come to terms with the fact that you may need to upgrade your system at some point. Backward compatibility should always be a thing, forwards compatibility is just absurd to even fathom.
Yeah boooooo......... D= + T_T + =_=
I DONT Like how my 2 beautys looks like on PS4! D;<< PS4 has NO Screenoptions! >_> ("Next-gen" console...?)
Every1 looks so unattractive flat on PS4... =_=
While on PS3, you can change the screensize to good old 4:3, even on 16:9 TV's ->
-> Result: To avoid black bars left and right on the screen, it gets scretched at 20% ->
-> Every1 has way more natural curves even a Butt!
I played the game a little while on my PS4. Everything looks nice, faster loadings but our Avatars looks terrible flat! >_>
So Im playing still on PS3 and really hope PS4 gets a charackter Editor boost after PS3 support ends!
(^even I own a PS4 since 1,5years!)
Our FF14 Avatars are the ONLY models on PS4 games wich have NO Natural curves - flat like a pencil.
Would you kiss a pancel?
...even the Free-to-play game Neverwinter has a way higher char editor >.> Bars for everything!
For what you want a benchmark? The console hardware is fix. The PC benchmark is used to check out the performance beforehand to see "is the PC still good enough or do I need to upgrade some parts".
Lets see what the job specific interfaces will bring us in kind of QoL.
Interface was a real issue with PS3 limitation. We remember the TP bar problems?
I wonder, how can be "cheap" throw 500$ instead of 200$, to reach same result? I know a PC does other things than running XIV, but my goal is just running XIV. I found it more cheap to get the ps4 than upgrading a pc that, apart gaming, still does everything fine.
All I said was that jeering at PS3 users for having their game taken away was mean-spirited (and misguided). I think the PS3 version has run its course too; I moved off it when they did the original PS3-PS4 upgrade campaign a few years back because the interface limitations (not to mention large scale FL) meant it was causing me frustration. Doesn't mean I can't feel compassion for those who aren't as fortunate as me.
On add-ons, these shouldn't even be necessary for the most part if they keep improving the interface with accessibility improvements. Some of which are currently being held back on PS4 due to a PC-only issue with graphics drivers. Yoshida specifically told us at Fan Fest that staying on PS4 instead of PS4 Pro was fine, whereas PC users need to get on and upgrade from all of the 32-bit toasters currently in use to stop holding the game back in future. PC limitations are real.
It's nice to see the videos and play around with new character creation (in the case of Heavensward specifically). That's all. It's not the end of the world, just an example of something the PC platform gets that console don't (like the 4k screenshots of my character reclining in Mist which were part of the same example). The benchmarks aren't just blank screens which spit a score out at the end, right?
(Though the people who are really screwed here are the Mac client users, who have all the drawbacks of the PC version without any of the advantages.)
What is FL?
Compared to the questionable price of the PC you spent money I think my PC is pretty cheap in comparison.
If there's one thing I do miss about console gaming it's just exclusives. I pretty much grew up on it starting with the PS1.
