Well I hope he will address the hairstyle and outfit clipping, which he claimed once PS3 is out, this could be looked into more.

Well said. Hear hear!I think it's a bit mean-spirited to be honest. I'm on PS4 - the PS3 version is objectively terrible to play on anyway - but I played the PS2 version of FFXI from its year of release to the year it ended service and the constant clamouring for me to leave the game made me never visit its forums. With FFXIV, the console gamers who were signed up for the beta from its initial announcement already missed out on the whole of 1.x and have had to endure years of barbs and criticism from privileged people who think their own hunger for better textures and features trumps the right of others to play the game at all. Even though there's no evidence those better features are coming, or that the majority of them are even being held back due to the PS3 in the first place.
Even though the actual problem now is obviously going to be old PCs (32-bit setups, graphics drivers as explicitly cited by YoshiP in interviews) I just know that 'PS4 limitations' is going to be the new refrain from people too ignorant to concede that not everyone on Windows is running a tricked out gaming box (or that many limitations are related to servers/network considerations). Even though my PS4 is a million times better as a gaming machine than my PC, I'm preparing to hear the whining once again.
I support the end of PS3 service in this case, but I think the community reaction to the announcement is utterly mean-spirited.
Brace yourselves now? This has been happening on for two to 3 years now, it's just the PS3 hatred overshadowed it. It comes down to a small and vocal section of the PC gaming community who pour scorn on console gamers, no matter what happens. I honestly suspect that many PC gamers with more ordinary gaming rigs would rather those people shut up, but wisely remain silent since for now the barbs are aimed at someone else.

Whether console or PC, things become obsolete over time - you will need to invest in upgrades if you consider staying with a game over the long-haul.
While I'm definitely on the side of PC master race argument, give a little love to your console brethren- they still help support a game you enjoy playing, too.
They're also one of the reasons for the financial success and continued financial success of FFXIV.Whether console or PC, things become obsolete over time - you will need to invest in upgrades if you consider staying with a game over the long-haul.

You need also notice you will lose all console players if the game went PC only. That is not an irrelevant source of money for game development....Just saying the game could be a whole lot more if it went PC only...
And making it playable only on gaming rigs over a given spec, didn't done better. SE learnt the lesson the hard way, when it released a game playable only on ultimate gaming rigs. They "discovered" not so much people have that kind of machines and XIV 1.0 was a complete fiasco, I went at that times in beta and it was simply unplayable. Unless you like playing at 1 frame per minute.
Please stop being so PC elitist, 50% of the games population uses consoles and without them this game would be a lot worse off.2K? I am running a 670 video card with everything on max. PC is worth about 5-700 bucks. And guess what. I can do a WHOLE lot more on it than a console. PC users are deprived of a lot of amenities because it has to stay toned down for console users. I'm not necessarily debating PC vs. Console. Just saying the game could be a whole lot more if it went PC only. My biggest complaint is not being able to use addons. UI changes, scrolling combat text things like WoW has.
PC players should still be given an option for higher res settings, I paid good money for my PC I want to be able to use it to its full potential. Im sorry others can't but thats not my problem. Im not saying take the game away from them but PC players should be given better options/settings for things. The ps3 has run its course and it sucks but at least SE is/has given ample time for players to move to the ps4 which I think is pretty great.
Textures have literally nothing to do with PS3 support, or PS4 support, or console support in general. FFXI was able to release a texture boost for PC while PS2 users still had the old textures because all that was needed was to replace the texture files in the Windows client. It's trivial, technically, but the problem is that actually creating all of the upgraded textures takes a lot of time (time, as in money).
Kindly direct your energy there instead of associating the lack of upgraded textures with a completely irrelevant scapegoat like console users
Sorry for being crabby but it's been years of ill-deserved persecution at this point. The guy who admits he has only been playing the game for five weeks telling half the playerbase to uninstall so that he can have a clone of WoW's floating combat text (who cares?) really gets my goat.
