I imagine they would have some system where gear became soulbound to you to get it in the log. Regardless It seems both parties actually want the log one way or another.Honestly I don't think it matters either way. I think the destruction of the item for infinite glamourability is a fair trade, but in the end if the dev team ever does make a glamour system they're going to make it however their team decides and we won't have a say in the matter.*pushes face to the screen* But make it happen dev team (please!)!
Pretty much. Honestly speaking, I don't even care about the extra resources we can do with the gear after adding it to the log. As I mentioned, HW is raining resources on players so long you're actively playing the game instead of just afking in town. I only went into that aspect after Serilda brought it up.
I stand firm on no destruction of gear because and only because of two reasons; redundancy aka higher workload for developers and more importantly, restrictions for players.
Got a relic you fancy? Wait months for the new relic patch to be release before you got the replica to glamour the current stage.
Upgraded weekly-cap tome gear comes with a glow that you despise? Spent more weekly-cap tome to repurchase a pre-upgraded gear so you can denote it as you add it to the glamour log.
BiS change because you got a different loot but your upgraded gear already exploded last night? Rip or repurchase and re-upgrade the gear again. Or wait for the weekly tome cap to be removed so it doesn't hinder your gearing progression.
Sure, it will be nice if the developer team filter the gears into two different group so upgradeable gear get added into the log automatically without exploding, but that will still be additional work no matter how you slice the pie, regardless big or small (kinda like the effect we get with the additional usage of the gear eh?).
If additional resources is such a big issue, might as well just setup the system so that we have to pay a fee of 5,000 gil everytime we add a single piece of gear into the glamour log as a bomb-diffusion fee. I'm pretty such we don't have enough gil sink in game anyway. /s

I don't care how many times this topic is posted, I will continue to post my support of it until it happens.
This is sorely needed. Please make it happen SE!

GW2 version of the Glamour log worked out more ideal as it only soulbounded gears to the character if the choose to Unlock that gear Glamour instead of destroying it.
As someone who has 1 full retainer just for holding glamour items, I fully support a log system.
If nothing else, this would also fix the armoire issue. My retainer is currently holding my 2014 moogle suit, and my 2016 tidus and yuna outfits, that is 14 slots filled by glamour gear that cannot be armoired or bought from the CS, if I drop it, I lose it forever. However, if I could add it to the glamour log, I don't have to keep it anymore, and I feel like they could even release gear as exclusively "glamour packs", i.e. instead of getting lvl 1 tidus gear, you get a Tidus glamour book that would add the set to your glamour log.
This is something we urgently need and I will always support topics on it, my retainers are so full of glamour gear that I have no more space left.

I want to restate that I am absolutely fine with items not being destroyed when added too. It's simply that after seeing how S-E operates in these cases, I'm prepared to be realistic. If they want to let me add everything then cash in the originals and flood my coffers with a small fortune in company seals or desynth mats, I'm not ever going to complain :P
Yes, the potential time (and money) saved in the long term is not insignificant. Updating the calamity salvager and armoire will no longer be important; heck, the entire armoire can potentially be removed if it's done right, saving resources right away. In an ideal world they could even add both male and female versions to the log if you have both (or if it's a one-shot exchangeable item at the salvager) to make things easier on those people who like to burn through fantasias; obviously the gender restrictions would still exist for the actual glamouring (sadly) but people like me who have no intention of gender-hopping could then finally get rid of the accursed gender-locked items they have no way to reobtain in future like the maid outfit.
(Being able to glamour our retainers straight from the log would also be nice as a bonus feature one day.)
