What in the hell? Completely disregarding this whole "people who did the relic grind are better at the game!!!!" because it's not hard, it's a time sink. I've done both of them (well, I haven't finished my anima yet). You ignored the second part of what I said - why would you want to do both relics solely to switch between different kinds of content? That's just not good game design Amalon wanted the zodiac quest line to be continued, it WAS, by allowing you to use it towards the anima.

Doing both the zodiac and anima relics and keeping them both relevant to new content provides choice. There are ppl that would do both weapons because it's an accomplishment they would be proud of, I may have used a poor example of making them better for certain content but each one could have some different base stats. When doing a relic line you're not supposed to be able start it half way through, that's cheating in my opinion and the anima as a continuation of the zodiac is just that a short cut cause you don't actually need the zodiac to do it.

Relic Weapons
Created through Dynamis Currency, Relic Weapons are powerful high-damage and low-delay weapons, though costly to obtain. Once a weapon has been upgraded to the forth and final stage, a unique weapon skill becomes available to the player based on the weapon.
Further Upgrades
After completing the fourth stage, Relic Weapons can be further upgraded through their level 99 variants via the Trial of the Magians.
For initial Item Level 119 versions, a level 99 variant and 300 Pluton icon.png Plutons must be traded to Oboro in Port Jeuno at (E-6).
Aegis and Gjallarhorn lack 119 variants, being fully upgraded in their level 99 II forms.
For the completed Item Level 119 versions, an Item Level 119 variant and 10,000 Pluton icon.png Plutons must be traded to Oboro in Port Jeuno at (E-6).
119 variants possessing an Afterglow only require 1.

Category:Mythic Weapons
(Redirected from Mythic Weapon)
Mythic Weapons are upgraded versions of Vigil Weapons found during the Nyzul Isle Investigation.
The historical background for these weapons can be found at The Myriad Arms of Balrahn.
Mythic Acquisition
There are a series of quests one must complete in the pursuit of a Mythic Weapon.
Be forewarned that these are laborious tasks which will take a while to complete.
The Captain Mercenary Rank must be obtained first in order to start the Mythic Questline:
An Imperial Heist
Duties, Tasks, and Deeds
Forging a New Myth
Coming Full Circle
After this, Mythic Weapons can be further upgraded through their level 99 variants via the Trial of the Magians.
For initial Item Level 119 versions, a level 99 variant and 300 Beitetsu icon.png Beitetsus must be traded to Oboro in Port Jeuno at (E-6).
For the completed Item Level 119 versions, an Item Level 119 variant and 10,000 Beitetsu icon.png Beitetsus must be traded to Oboro in Port Jeuno at (E-6).
119 variants possessing an Afterglow only require 1 Beitetsu.

This is the kind of thing that myself as well as others I know would love to see come to FF XIV.
Those would be the 2 'relic' weapon lines from FF XI and each weapon based on the job has a unique weapon skill you gain while using them AND they were kept relevant by further upgrading them to keep with the level cap.
I also included the reforged 'artifact' armors that were also up gradable via quests.
Why can't something like this be brought into FF XIV? The level of satisfaction you get from building and upgrading unique gear like this is un measurable and adding in unique stats/traits/abilities makes them all the more better.

I do agree with that and would love to see something like that added but that would also mean that ffxiv or more the community needs to accept different play styles, due to the fact that every Job would play differently with different builds/unique stats & traits, and that's not happening anytime soon. Therefore adding your idea as example to the game, would just cause more problems as it stands right now, then it actually would solve anything, especially if it would also be rng based (knowing SE since they love RNGesus soooo much) on top of that.
Ok taking it out of context, I find t hat people who grind relics have better understanding from my experience. There are some that still not 100% but are more likely to listen and follow mechanics. As part of your second statement - Why would you want to do both relics solely to switch between different kinds of content? once again its' to skip the mindless fate grinding of farming crystals and OBTAIN a better understanding of the job mechanics. Even now as mentor, I have come across various players who refuse to listen to mechanics and really cause others to rage quit. For example a healer AST, who only fate grinds and refuses to use Cards, WHM who rather DPS and keep Cleric stance up and ignore the fact that they are healers. When asked why they say, this is how I play. BY THEIR OWN CHOICE, then complain that they get voted off. In no way, shape, or form Do I claim that RELIC users are the better players just because they have a Relic weapon, I do however claim that do to their patience, conviction, and various type of grinding they have come to understand mechanics a bit better and are willing to take advice. In other words they see both sides of the coin. There are some raid wep users that are really good and can outclass relic users. Once again they have put in hard work in a different way and usually have the relic weapon as well. Everyone has a style they play, some shine more than others. As for the Zodiac brave story how far can you really go into it? Maybe do it like FFXI and see one of the spirit that owned the weapon? Then Add a Myth type? Maybe in the future where you need minimum a title for a type of God weapon were RELIC is suppose to be the strongest weapon in the game? Who knows. Relics were designed so players can alter the stats to their style. Same reason why I rather do relics, achievements, learning or fine tuning my character cool down rotations. or the usual bragging rights.

GOD YES!!!! How I wish SE would do that here, the people here may actually understand what an actual grind is and come to terms on how easy they have it here on FFXIV. Then again If they did people would complain and would be a nerfed , people would rage quit it's too hard, or not enough people would not help -.-.
You get what it is I'm getting at here with this!!! From the sounds of things you've built the relic's and mythic's in ff XI and yea for them to make the relic quest lines in XIV like the ones in XI I would have to say probably about 70% of the ppl that have built the relics in XIV would complain that its too hard and too long to build a relic.
All I am saying is for them to add more and bump both the zodiac and anima relics up with updated quests to keep both weapons relevant for new content and maybe add something more 'special' over other easier to get weapons like adding 'boosts "this" ability/trait/spell by x%' still make it 'easy' for those that wouldn't be cut out for the kind of work the ff XI relic and mythic weapons took to build.
They could even take it a bit farther by adding in reforged artifact armor quests to boost the lv 50 artifact armor up to the current/new level cap and maybe adding in some customization for stats for those.
Personally I've found the zodiac and anima relic quest lines a walk in the park and easily done even before they got nerfed compared to the ones in ff XI
