This. Neveer understand why people see them as a Saint who sacrifies themselves for us. As you said, It's their job!. I mean, its no a bad thing they can take vacations but maybe form a Light party and Queue for it because stop content so everyone can take vacations at the same time, its a extremely moronic idea for a company, specially after a big release.

I agree that they need time off, but do they need that time off all at the same time? does production need to stop just so they can have vacation?

From my understanding the reason they all had a break at 3.0's release is that barely any of them had had a break in over a year. Yoshi said they reorganised things after that to try and make things more manageable but likely at the moment most of them are in crunch and working very long hours. To match the expected schedule they might not be in a position to take breaks.

SE has been actively hiring for a while now but they aren't going to be looking for entry level recruits. They are going to need skilled staff able to reliably fill the roles. Even then it takes time to integrate staff into a system.

I am not saying that its good or not to have a break between 4.0 and 4.1. Perhaps if it is an issue they should reconsider the quantity they are trying to develop. What I am saying is burned out developers are bad for everyone involved.

I wouldn't be surprised if 4.1 takes a while but, if 4.0 has the same amount of content that HW had (or ARR had but as a relaunch, I'm giving it some slack), I see a lot of people leaving again and perhaps not even returning, just like people left during the transition from 3.0 and 3.1, especially when the patch brought basically nothing new. To put in perspective, 3.0 should've had 3.1 content and even then It would be barely sufficient.

I don't really mind if the devs takes breaks as I'm sure they deserve it, but they can't just launch an expansion with zero content and be surprised that people leave: 3.0 had nothing to do at all, not even a relic (which came in 3.1 and it was underwhelming, to say the least), and this is why I'm not even bothered to get into the expansion until maybe 4.1 or 4.2: I don't want to experience 6-9 months of nothingness, especially when an expansion should expand its content, not copying it from the previous installment.

What I want to say is, if 4.0 has enough content to last until 4.1 (which I don't believe it to happen), then it's fine. I dunno, 4-5 dungeons, 3 primals and maybe a 24 man raid or at least the relic could be a good start.
Or else we'll just see more people frustrated and leave the game like during HW, and most likely never return because it's yet another HW patching fiasco.

At this rate I wouldn't be surprised if we'd get server merges during 4.X

I honestly didn't mind the break after 3.0 released, so to OP I agree with you and think that if they wanted a break following 4.0 they deserve it. I don't see the player base as a whole being so kind though. There were a lot of complaints before, would probably only be more this time around.

I wouldn't mind it as long as it meant a good quality product. I know the other end of the spectrum, in Everquest, the devs were told to slow the frick down. They were releasing full expansions every 5-7 months. Having your playerbase split between 2-3 expansions is a weird experience. Good news is the zones aren't empty, except in the newest of new content.

all you nah sayers disgust me! the Dev team deserves a break after the work they are putting in to give us Storm blood just like Hsw frankly that was bullshit hearing so many bitch and moan about no new content for like a month or two if your finding you got a lack of things to do ingame do as yoshi p once told a group of people and " Don't play everyday" we can manage without extra content for awhile...while they are getting rest after working they're butts off

I'm neutral on this. I definitely think the devs deserve all the free time they can get after doing a fantastic job, but I also experienced first hand what the 3.0 > 3.1 gap, and patch 3.1 itself, did to the game.

I probably won't mind if it does take a bit longer than usual to put out 4.1, but the 5+ months that 3.1 took was too much.
