Would it be possible in the future to take the job exclusive glamour restrictions down so classes could mix and match glamour gear? Just something I've been curious about for awhile now and just wanted to know and also see what ya'll think.

...B-but mah job identity! Nah but in all seriousness I highly doubt it and not just because of them constantly using "Memory limitations" as an excuse.
As far as I know what has been said about this has been "No".
This was from last year:
PSU: Regarding the glamour elements of the game, previously you said that you didn’t want jobs to wear the gear from other jobs because it could be visually confusing, and there are some dungeon pieces that can’t be dyed. I wanted to know if you’d be open to changing that? I think the players are skilled enough now for that to not be confusing.
Yoshida: In terms of being able to glamour job specific gear that’s not for your job… I don’t have any intentions of doing that. I don’t want a black mage in full plate armor casting spells. There are some MMOs that allow tanks for example to use robes, but if you’re a mage or caster you can’t wear full plate armor. If we were to do that in FFXIV people would complain. I don’t want to lift that restriction just yet.
*Reads PSU quote* Why would people get mad over a caster with glamoured armor? That'd be awesome! We have people running around in bathing suits and underwear and nobody bats an eye, so why would a robe wearing tank make anybody mad? XD Ironcially, we can already wear robes as tanks with the lower level gear so Yoshi's excuse just backfires.
*Now thinking about wearing tank robe glamour*
>u>
Alright, thanks for the info guys! I hobestly feel a little hopeful that the restrictions will be taken off in the late future, but for now I'll just ivethe dream through my preview glamours (Also ironically we can cross glamour there, too) ^u^
Yoshi was more referring to Artifact Armour (AF) though in that quote that Myahele posted, but the idea is the same - Yoshi does not want the image given by AF to be destroyed by making it equippable by any class. AF is gear that first appeared in FFXI in the same way, it was Job specific gear that was meant to have the appearance (or at least give that idea) of that Job from past FF games (i.e., WHM AF was a white robe with red triangles, WAR AF was red and black light armour, BLM AF was dark blue or black robes with a pointy hat and striped pants, DRG AF emulated Kain's armour from FFIV etc). If, say, a PLD, could equip WHM AF, then that AF wouldn't be WHM anymore, it would just be a generic robe. It would destroy the very traditional image associated with that Job.
Generic gear however could probably have it's restrictions loosened a bit for glamour, but AF as it stands should never be allowed to be glamoured by other Jobs, as it invalidates the reasons for having AF in the first place.

I completely agree about the AF gear, along with all the special single class exclusives from tome collections and whatnot. The regular gear and dungeon gear I would love to cross glam! There are so many potential combos from just that! ^^
Has all of my support. More options = great.
That quote is so full of crap though. Black mages in plate not allowed, but tanks wearing robes is apparently fine, and anyone running around naked doesn't cause any identity problems. -_-
Yeah, I can understand and even sort of agree with not making AF gear cross-class glamourable, but there's plenty of generic dungeon gear that could and should have the restrictions lifted.
For instance, the i185 dungeon gear had a Fantasy Victorian aesthetic to it, with no particular links between the various sets and the typical aesthetics of the class they were assigned to...enough so that they reused the models for the i225 dungeons and (mostly; tanks and DRGs got new models) just swapped the models around a bit. If they could do that with this gear, there's absolutely no reason they couldn't make it glamourable for other classes, since there's no 'Job image' to protect in this case.
