So what exactly happened to Alphinauds big rant about forgetting the 1.0 WoL?

Back at the start of the ARR story Alphinaud (and some other NPCs) made a big thing about the old WoL and how they couldnt remember their faces or much about them, it was brought up a fair bit during the story a lot, Alphinaud even going so far as getting angry/being disgusted that no one remembered them... but did they just (ironically) forget all about that?

At this point it feels like that was a story point that was just dropped somewhere around the start of ARR.

I had to go back to be sure I was recalling this properly; long time ago!

The omission of the Warriors of Light wasn't really what the twins found offensive, per se, so it really only came up that one time during the rants. They were pointing out that the omission was among the evidence that Eorzea wasn't worth saving and their grandfather's sacrifice was in vain. Alphinaud tries to make a bit of an excuse for the Eorzeeans, pointing out that they have so few resources left that they dedicate them only to things that amount to looking forward, while Alisaie is incredibly offended that they would rewrite history to suit the narrative they want rather than the one that was truth (I would imagine partly because she's a Sharlayan and partly because said history included her Grandfather).

It was one of the big reasons the two split up for a while.

As of the end of the Binding Coil (2.4), Alisaie has come to find Eorzea worth saving and has come to terms with a lot of the evidence to the contrary. Sometimes they were legitimate criticisms, of course; but big picture they didn't quite mean what she was accusing them of meaning.

While I know what you mean about the Coil stuff but I also meant that there are other NPCs (as I said) who talk about it, to a new player it seems like such a big story thing that was just never brought up again after a certain point.

keep in mind it was mainly meant as a tie in to form the "current" WoL from the culmination of the old WoL and the new ones. Simply put it went from "old" and "new" WoLs to just WoL. It is a "shout out" of sorts to the 1.0 WoL, but was never meant to overshadow the current WoL. (some NPCs do remember you as the old WoL, but eventually you just turn into the WoL for them across the board too)

If I recall correctly, it was Alisae who was overly upset over that, and she wasn't so much upset over people forgetting the 1.0 WoL and (more importantly) Louisoix's sacrifice as she was angry they were using "memorial services" as opportunities for self-aggrandizement as well. The scenes in question directly preceded choosing your Grand Company and, aside from showing how the twins split up and the differences in their philosophies, was intended to show the strengths and flaws of all three GCs.

Considering the Rising is an annual thing, I don't suppose anyone's forgotten - hell, last year's was a dramatic reenactment of the Battle of Cartenau! Alisae was just pissed the GCs were using memorial services to toot their own horns.

To be honest no one truly understands why and its probably been left since no one knows how to figure out why it happened. From what we have seen now the most likely reason would likely be the side effect of a rejoining where the Aether of one of the Shards flooded into Hydealyn. That would be bound to have side effects.

I have been told however that if you play a 1.0 character there is a point where some of the Scions realise you were a 1.0 WoL.
