    BRD/MCH in 4.0

    Honestly, ever since the Gauss Barrel/Wanderer's Minuet debate over wanting to be mobile compared to just being another caster except doing physical damage, I've been wondering: What adjustments would be made to BRD and MCH in 4.0 to even make WM/GB worth using? As it is now I already know people complained on release of 3.0 that WM/GB were annoying mechanics that limited others. What would it be like in 4.0?

    Personally? I'd like to see WM either redesigned or dropped entirely. There's little in the BRD storyline that points to it in any fashion (unlike other job abilities that are usually attained after the quest NPC says "I'm going to teach you X"), so it would be easily replaced.

    The current design doesn't really leave many avenues as is, though a possibility would be BRDs getting additional songs (reduces target's damage dealt for X seconds?). MCH is a little tougher, though I'd like to see them get a cooldown where the MCH's turret combines with their gun for a short time.

    * The sad thing is that FFXIV turned RDM into a turret, and people think that's what it's supposed to be. It's supposed to combine sword and magic into something more, not spend the bulk of gameplay spamming spells and jump into melee for only 3 GCDs before scurrying back to the back line like good little casters.
    * Design ideas:
    Red Mage - COMPLETE (https://tinyurl.com/y6tsbnjh), Chemist - Second Pass (https://tinyurl.com/ssuog88), Thief - First Pass (https://tinyurl.com/vdjpkoa), Rune Fencer - First Pass (https://tinyurl.com/y3fomdp2)

    If they got rid of the bow mage gameplay of it I might actually start playing bard again.

    Seen a few suggestions for bed that scrap minuet such as giving a stacking buff that builds the more you stay still. And falls off the more you move. Taking 2 or 3 steps to dodgensure an aoe for example might only lose 1 stack. Taking more than that would lose more stacks.

    They do need to scrap the bow mage element though. Turn the class back into an archer and not a wannabe mage

    ^This

    Bard needs a redesign in 4.0 to restore it to the class that so many people loved but, unfortunately, were forced to walk away from in 3.0.

    This idea is a really good one to me. I don't like WM (never have) but I've tried to get used to it. I play SCH/AST all the time, so a lack of mobility isn't my issue. The issue I have is with the dodgy cast times. It's jarring if you've only played casters and it's jarring if you've only played bard to 50.

    4.0 will likely be more trait related than giving new abilities. Traits that may change an ability or stance enough that the job feels different at 70. Adding more abilities at this point will over complicate a job unless it is something not intrusive.

    I don't mind casting stances at all. Only thing that does concern me is that we do not get a real DPS advantage on it. We are just able to catch back up to what the DPS comparison was in 2.0.

    WM is always worth using and you can switch it off if needed.

    Funny thing is that people complain about this, like a bow could fire like a maschine gun without any aiming. Also they complain that they can't jump around like a flea, but if they did that they did it wrong from the start.

    My (admittedly) quick googling shows the speed record is real at least, and he hasn't even got Hydaelyn helping him out.

    Rest seems a bit faked, cool though. Like watching a magic act.
