All the hype for the "Monk" expansion. WoL switcthing to Monk job.

In the end it was all a teaser for the real treat, Doma, underwater cities and Samurai. I even skip through the first part of the trailer to get to Doma faster. :3

It's a bit more dramatic in this case though since Dark Knight didn't show up and steal the show in the Heavensward full trailer, in fact the entire trailer built up toward the Warrior of Light putting on the Dragoon armor.

Not the best comparison. Neither DRK or Dragoon was showcased in the opening for the game. With Stormblood however, the teaser was Monk, the big reveal was Samurai. Even made Yoshida a full Samurai cosplay.

Even better, Samurai may very well be a replacement for Monk, that is, another pure damage dealer without much utility. DeleteMNK is happening.

Since you seem to be from the future, can you please post the 61-70 job abilities?

Besides, the WoL changing to DRG for Heavensward didn't really have that big of an effect past the opening cinematic, anyway. Not sure what more you were expecting for MNK.

I said quite possibly, seeing as they'll be sharing gear and Yoshi stated it'll be a job focusing on high damage output.

As far as what they did to DRG, they pretty much made them mandatory in every composition. You're always going to have a MCH/Bard in your party and DRG monopolizes the piercing debuff. Not only that but they got a huge buff to their DPS capabilities and offers dmg utility to the party in the form of Battle Litany. Compared to Monk who's entire HW toolkit was based around not losing Greased Lightning so often.

No point in doom and gloom until we actually know the lvl 61-70 abilities, though.

Do you even know why they're mandatory in every composition? MCH/BRD dps is high (especially MCH), and the fact that disembowel just increases it makes those two jobs even better. In return, the MCH also buffs physical damage taken by a target, which further buffs their own damage, the BRD's, and the DRG's damage (and probably the NIN too, since the best setup is MCH/BRD/NIN/DRG). These are then all buffed by Trick Attack, and obviously Battle Litany.

The synergy between those four jobs is what made DRG mandatory, not the fact that DRG happened to gain Battle Litany with Heavensward. I'm also not sure what you mean with "huge buff to their dps capabilities", since DRGs aren't the highest current dps.

Even with the hype over the three jobs on Heavensward, it was still absolutely the Dragoon patch.

Let's maybe wait until the expansion before the Monk doom and gloom. 3.0 was absolutely the Dragoon patch.
