noob perspective: main scenario dungeons. they are bad.

why? because of toxicity try-hard farmers.

the main scenario dungeons themselves great actually, until that one try-hard farmer demands that the noobs, of whom is first experiencing the dungeons, skip the cut-scenes.

obviously, this had happened to me through my first playthrough of one of the major main scenario dungeons. these particular farmers new how to exploit enemy awareness to skip most of the levels of the dungeon, and presumed to make the demands as mentioned above to the noobs.

it was my first time playing the dungeon, i had no idea what i was doing, and apparently the try-hard taking lead was already at the first boss. this gave a bad impression to the story and the dungeon itself: everything was going too fast, and i could not grasp the situation. eventually, i did rent an inn, and watched the cut-scenes from there.

just wish there were a single player version of the dungeons that can only be finished once.

Welcome to ff 14 , so many people have had this same experience, just wait til you start doing 24 mans or trails. I dont know where I heard this community was so nice and cool because its totally not true, this is from experiences and observations. But it gets worse thats why alot of players dont even participate in most of the content in the game because of the toxic community.

i fully understand, but that does not mean the devs should not try and make it better for players first expiriencing the game.

for example, the suggestion to make single player dungeons that can be completed only once. these dungeons would have weaker enemies and puzzle reworks that only require one player.

this would allow noobs to experience the dungeons by their own pace, then visit the online dungeons again fully prepared.

this discussion should not be settled by simple acceptance that try-hard speed-runners ruin the game's first impressions.

I totally agree with you this also was my very first post and I really do think it ruined alot of players gaming experience. Im assuming your speaking of stone vigil, if your level 47 atm, those cut scenes are so short its really no reason for anyone to be that rude and rush someone but it sucks that it happens.

nah, The Castrum Meridianum and The Praetorium. i know my profile says 47 NIN, but in real time im 52 NIN. both are understandably larger parties, but the aurgument still stands.

If you want to experience the cut-scenes during the dungeon you can get your FC members to help you out. In 4-man dungeons watching cut-scenes isn't as much an issue, but some people won't want to wait and may kick you. For 24-man raids and 8-man raids expect to be able to watch the first cut-scene then nothing else unless you're running with your FC. This has been my experience since 2.3 and you get used to it and will start doing the same to other noobs as you're grinding out your tomes for the week. Then that noob will come to the forums and complain about toxic try-hard farmers and you can chuckle because you had that same experience 99.99% of the other players have had.

But for early dungeons in the game, mostly post 40-50 ones who knows, maybe those new players are still mainly on their own in the game and haven't really made any connections with others. Not everyone starts this game with friends waiting for them already.
Personally I always skipped cutscenes because I wanted to get right to the dungeon, but for early level dungeons like that I think it's a bit much to be wanting the newbies to skip it all.

I wouldn't consider castrum and praetorum "early" dungeons when you can't access them until you've hit level 50 (the cap in ARR) and that these are the first poetics grinding dungeons you get. If you don't have an FC by the time you hit level 50, you'll likely be running solo for the rest of your time here or jumping FCs. most sprouts will have received at least one FC invite within their first day of playing the game (if they're not on the trial), even on JP servers as an english speaker you should have an FC invite by the time you're level 30. Joining an FC isn't a commitment either, so when you get an invite - ask the person about the FC and if they're into the same things as you; then join them. If it's not a fit, leave. Really, these two MSQ dungeons are the only ones that have this problem: 1.) Cut-scenes after every pack of mobs, 2.) Easily skippable/burnable mobs, 3.) poetics grinding made easy (get's you gear that lasts until around level 55)

If you still aren't in an FC by the time you hit level 50 and still want to watch cutscenes while running content, put up a PF - there is an option for "Story-focused, no cutscene skipping" and a comment area to add details. Better yet, put up a PF asking for a story-focused FC.

Wait until you get to the level 50 MSQ Dungeons. They will start the boss fights before you even have a chance to skip the cutscene then you'll get locked out of every fight. It was highly frustrating.
