Biographies and random character string...

If this has already been posted before I apologize.

I was checking around at some other player characters and noticed player Biography lines for those that haven't added one there is a random string of numbers. I hope that these are random characters and not encrypted player/character IDs data...

I think you're seeing a code of some sort that guild websites use for character data. I had to do this for a Linkshell i joined.

Awe okay. That makes sense. I didn't think of that at all...SE should give us some custom fields in our profile.

I agree. Actually "Biography" is one of the less needed info since no one actually use that as biography...they should left that as "Comments" only.

I also wish they would actually merge lodestone and official forum profiles into one.

I don't know if this was completely clear in obaley's comment above, but a bunch of websites that make use of your character's data on the Lodestone use a code like that to verify that you actually own that character.

If they didn't someone could automatically enroll everybody, and then their updates would be very slow due to the sheer number of profiles to crawl.

A lot of these are actually people who use YG's online bazaar system.
